I do not believe they even geared it toward what they think the player wants, I think they geared it toward what the player will accept, pay for, grit his teeth and bear it, because that makes them more money.

after 2 weeks i was onto a new game, and now after a month im almost done with a 2nd game. And i got 1k achievement points in viva pinata (first game after spore) so dont tell me i just hop from game to game. When a game is good i stay with it, but when a game cant keep my attention, im done. I stick around here just to see if they actually FIX the core game play issues... that and i like the community... at least some of you....

I said it before and I'll say it again.... Spore's lack of depth is mind-boggling.

It's utterly astonishing that a game with such an innovative creation toolset and such large scope (from planets to an entire galaxy) could be so incredibly shallow.

Spore makes the Sims look like Baldur's Gate 2.

Clearly I still peek in occasionally hoping for a miracle update, but... Gal Civ II FTW!

So does everyone else. That's what those spikes on Xfire are.

people looking for a patch.

Don't feel bad guys you are a few out of at least 750 thousand people who have stopped playing SPORE or dropped gameplay time dramatically .

I could have done it better with the same funds and manpower. 'It' being the variable in this statement. - Me

Be thankful for the game they made. I would like to see you try to code a full 3D game on a bunch of procedures that has over a million players and over 30 million pieces of player-made content, and has the most creative creation process in the world, and have no bugs, and no complaints.

Do it and I will then side with you, otherwise, be thankful they put the time and effort into building what is there now for you to play.

And if I've never had political experience, I can't complain about the state of government.

And if I've never been an Olympic runner, I shouldn't criticize people for dropping the baton, several times.

And if I've never directed and funded the production of a movie, then Kung Pow: Enter the Fist is on par with Saving Private Ryan.

And since I've never been to medical school, I can't truly call-out a doctor on mal-practice.

And since I've only ever been playing games for 17 years, I obviously have no experienced or educated opinion on what kinds of standards to hold games up to.

Not saying it's a waste of a game by any means, I'm just saying the Spore that was advertised was not the Spore that was delivered, by a long shot.

I'm glad you understand now SPORE! (Just kidding...since I know I'll get cited if I don't say I'm kidding).

Plus just cite to him that there is only about 250k people still playing spore and that'll help your argument.

Or the fact that if someone gave you a development team with 100 million dollars you COULD do it.

But hey...who's counting right?

And in the end.. those people that are dissapointed and have dropped off from playing are still stuck with the games, while EA laughs all the way to the bank.. patch or not.

Agreed with all the posts here, btw.

Have Spore installed and will keep it installed but yeah, the shallow gameplay and terrible graphics (by todays standards) have forced me to move on as well.
Sins of a Solar Empire - Yes, awesome. Owned it since launch. A Stardock game, so you can expect quality and excellent support. Can't wait for their first micro-expansion " Entrenchment " !!!
Mount and Blade - Yes, I am absolutely digging this game too. I picked up all the high resolution texture mods and the HDR add on mod (which are all easy to install)... so the game looks sick and it's an incredible game... a TRUE SANDBOX... well worth the money and you'd be supporting a small indie developer.
Kings Bounty II : The Legend - If you thought Heroes of Might Magic was anything good, check this game out. Blows HOMM5 out of the water. Deeper gameplay, better graphics. All this and made by a Russian developer! Published by the same guys that did Space Rangers 2. Is it just me or are Euro/Russian game developers quickly catching up and in some case surpassing US houses in terms of game quality? (cof cof EA)

Yep, pretty much why I'm even here. Hoping for a patch to fix bugs so that I can play this game that I paid money for. There's no excuse for this. If we don't get a patch soon, I'm making this the last EA game I buy, and encouraging others to no longer bother. Friends have stopped playing (creating), and have run into too many Sporn or unpainted creations to considder random downloads worth while, so even that aspect is pretty much dead because of the game being so horribly bugged.

Now watch the next sporeday is a building tutorial, focusing mostly on the painting aspect... If it is, the people over at EA clearly have no idea what any of the players are having problems with.

Yet another person who says this is an amazing sleeper game. Friend of mine in Russia, more like an acquaintance, said this was a hella title. Some of the folks who have similar gaming interests (read as Spore friendly too) recommended it too. So... Just grabbed the demo from fileplanet. Darn good little game. Might have to add it to my birthday list.

Apparently they had a patch out fast, hit almost all the issues folks wanted fixing, did it fast. The toughest competition for the biggies like EA are game little companies like this that actually DO something. That is something other than focusing on wondering how to milk every penny from a product and getting raises to marketing and board members while shafting developers and grunt programmers.

Lot of Eastern EU and Russian software companies are starting to shine the past two years. Witcher apparently is another one of those that crossed over this way too. Not my kinna game but glad folks still combine programming skill with creativity out there.

I'm just worried that those who stick around are going to end up like this with EAs business model: http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=269

That cartoon is kinna how the CEO who came in mid last year wants things to be. Buyer beware.
It really is a laugh/cry cartoon. The truth hurts.
