Well, here's my first review! This one was unsolicited, meaning not asked for. I will however be excepting reviews.

The Experiment

Type: Puzzle (I would have put Story)
Creator: Eradicator94
Captain: Femme-Nephin

Summary
Very nice props, an interesting story idea, but lacks detail.

Story
The story was rather simple: an experiment goes awry while you are present, and you must fix it. Most of the text relayed the information pretty well, though some parts could have been elongated. The chatter texts in the last act were copies of the few acts before it, making it somewhat confusing, as their panicking didn’t apply later on. Quite a few swears, so people who are sensitive to cussing should not play this. The talk about the machine being able to produce the “worst disaster in history, ever” sounded somewhat corny. Opening/winning/losing text was average. Some parts produced medium humor, but nothing amazingly funny.

Spelling / Grammar
No mistakes that I caught.

Creations
The creatures and outfitting could have used some work. The lab assistants were probably the best, but even they could have benefitted from more detail. No vehicles that I noticed. The interior of the compound was nice, and the lab itself was a fantastic design. Some props could have used work, mainly the buttons and the computers.

Environment
The music felt somewhat disjointed between acts, as it switched every time, and didn’t quite fit in a few places. The compound interior was very believable, and the use of sound effects in certain places was very funny. The effects during the meltdown sequence were very nice, if a bit predictable. However, during the timed sequence, it would have been nice to use more effects to show which reactors were malfunctioning. Certain teleporters exited at an odd angle.

Captain Competence
All captains should be able to finish this. Certain taller captains may have a difficult time entering the teleporters. You might want jump/hover/flight, but that isn’t necessary.

Puzzles
The only real puzzle was the meltdown sequence. This was particularly frustrating because there was no clear way of knowing which reactor cores should be destroyed. Upon closer inspection, you can see a faint orange glow at the top of faulty reactors, but most players will not be able to notice this. An ongoing puzzle through the adventure was not falling into the water, as you would be electrocuted, and subsequently die. This was semi-annoying in the meltdown sequence, but it threw another challenge into the mix to complicate things.

Overall

I'm making a tentative return.

And another...

The Ties that Bind

Type: Story
Creator: jschwegman
Captain: Locked

Summary
With an excellent story and amazing sets, this is one adventure you won’t want to miss!

Story
The story was very complex and played off of earlier adventures such as Wreckage of the Past 1, Wreckage of the Past 2, and Seeds of Ruin. While not giving too much away, I would suggest you go over these adventures before trying The Ties that Bind. All of the text was expertly written, and I imagine required several passes at editing. I believe almost every goal in the adventure was a ‘talk to’ goal, so those who do not like to read will have a difficult time with this one. The description/opening/losing text mirrored that of the adventure text as it conveyed the ideas that needed to be conveyed in an orderly fashion. The end of the adventure also offered some profound insights into how communication can open a world to new ideas.

Spelling / Grammar
No mistakes!

Creations
Every creation in this adventure was crafted with amazing skill. The creatures especially were well made, as every outfitting worked to perfection. My only complaint was that when you talk to the General riding an orthocope, the orthocope is animated the same as the General, making it somewhat confusing whether the orthocope is the General, or the rider is. The vehicles were nice, and the buildings as well. Some creations I noticed were borrowed, most notably the tram cars from hk1x1’s Deepspace Series, but these creations were credited at the beginning of the adventure.

Environment
Every sound track, be it sound effects or music, was placed perfectly throughout the adventure. The sounds of angry protestors faded out at a believable distance, as did the music when it no longer applied. There were several different sets, ranging from a spaceport to a council chamber to a spacestation on an asteroid. Each was pieced together marvelously, leaving no holes or gaps that you can escape through.

Captain Competence
This was a locked captain mission. The captain that was given has all the abilities you will need.

Puzzles
There are no puzzles in this adventure, but several points were the text will reference happenings from previous adventures, so there is a bit of thinking you will have to do.

Overall

I'm making a tentative return.

And just to show that I am capable of being critical of GCG adventures... And that I can be somewhat blunt...

GCG - Origins

Type: Quest (Attack would have suited it much better.)
Creator: xorn101
Captain: Locked

Summary
A short, rough adventure that could benefit from some editing.

Story
There wasn’t much depth to the story. A task force is sent in to destroy a Conqrix base. That’s about all there is. The text was poorly written and didn’t convey ideas well. All ‘speak to’ goals were short and contained little information. The description was okay, as was the introduction/winning/losing text.

Spelling / Grammar
There were quite a few punctuation mistakes, with a few minor spelling mistakes. Some people might not notice this as much as I did, but the mistakes are very apparent when you look.

Creations
Many of the creations were borrowed, some from Maxis, others from Dakmaul/Delta317. The creatures that were original were poorly made. The vehicles were all by Maxis, and the buildings were average.

Environment
The landscape was purple and gray, a very odd combination against the Conqrix. There was a line of rocks that seemed to serve no purpose at all, and it looked very odd and boring. The music was interesting at times, but didn’t quite fit in a few places. When you are fighting the Conqrix, they are in small clusters that look very odd. Some of the dead creatures come to life and attack you when they aren’t supposed to. The vehicles got stuck very easily. The buildings were put together very sloppily. All around an unrealistic environment.

Captain Competence
This is a locked captain mission. The abilities are sometimes helpful, but the weapons are not very well suited for the combat in the mission.

Puzzles
No puzzles whatsoever.

Yay! Now I know where to get my templates reviewed!

Here's P6 City. It's my best city, because it's large, has great variety of areas, and it has my best buildings yet!

I don't care who reviews it, I just want someone else's view of it!

I did, just in a different order. I've edited the post in the correct order, though. I forgot the second one, but it's added in now (or in 30 seconds).

Great work on the first batch of reviews! I've added them to the OP and Sporecasted The Ties that Bind.

This review thread might actually be successful! Let's hope it doesn't die like most other review threads.

Xenopologist, you might want to add a waiting list to the OP, so it's easy to see which adventures are going to be reviewed and in which order.

May I give you one application for a series and set you off with that, or do I need to do it one at a time like for Remy's?

How long is the series? Three or four adventures can be taken all at one time, but if this is a 20-episode epic trek through the complete backstory of every creation in your Spore galaxy I think I'll take them on an individual basis.

What a surprise to discover that my adventure had been reviewed! Thanks for your very kind comments, Dragonman9, and for taking the time to type them all up. Reviewing can be a thankless job sometimes, so I want to say how much I appreciate this. I wish you much success with your new thread.

No problem man! A good adventure is worth writing a good review about!

Oh, alright, I see it. Downloading and reviewing. Also, I have an unsolicited review to give to you, but I'll wait until I've reviewed your requested one to give them both to you at once.

Nice, I asked for one review, but I get 2! Thanks!

Is the other one "GCG - Corruption"? I guessed because you replied in the GCG thread, and/or becauseit's one of my latest adventures.
