If you honestly want to get rid of the boredom gorilla go out and buy a game called Galactic Civilizations II. Be warned to let loved ones know you're going away for a while though you've been warned!

Got it. Beat it I don't know how many times. Got over it. Along came Spore (finally, after waiting forever) and now I'm hooked. Not sure how many hours I've got logged, but I don't have to force myself to keep playing by inventing some sort of back story or anything. I just create a creature and let it evolve on it's own. My creations generally take on a life of their own making every history and game different from the last. But to each his own and not everyone will like the same stuff in a game. I don't mind too much of the gameplay and the creativity seems endless. Expansions will only enhance what's already great about this game.

As long as you have legit reasons for not liking Spore any longer, then more power to ya. But if you just want to rag and bash, then sit in your corner by yourself and tell those who care (generally those in the corner with you).

How do you guys keep going? I'm not being facetious, I really want to know.

It really does just depend on what people like or don't like. Personally speaking I spend a lot of time in the creators playing around with stuff there, commenting on others creations and trying to think up my next ideas. Having said that I've also spent 100+ hours in game as well, I especially enjoy meeting up with other peoples creatures in the creature stage and chasing the achievements. It might get boring eventually but right now I am still enjoying it.

I don't hate spore, I've just done just about everything there is to do in the game. I mean once you've seen all the content and the game ceases to be challenging on hard what is there left to do? I still keep coming back to Galactic Civ II because the AI is a work of art, and on the harder difficulty settings the game is just unbelievably challenging so I get a lot of satisfaction from beating the game itself - you have to play in sandbox mode though cause the campaign is pretty average.

Take advantage of the variety this game offers. Go back and forth between stages, or attempt to follow a new and unique path. Work towards specific achievements. Find Earth. Try and fulfill zany strategies (colonies an entire arm of the galaxy, eradicate Grox, kill everybody you find in space). Or open an editor and create something to your liking.

I haven't played it in a week, I only open spore to see content I downloaded from buddies or to create new content, and I only played a full game to space stage once. I just don't see the point anymore.

This has been the big fail for me. Hardcore gamers didn't like The Sims 2 since it was so "easy" to "win". The same applies to Spore. The game is simple, and it is easy to win. This shouldn't be a problem though. I loved TS2, and for exactly the reason quoted above. I had a lot of fun making up crazy ways to play and seeing what would happen. Like filling a house with 7 slobs and controlling just 1 really neat guy. Can he survive in these conditions? The randomness of TS2 would kick in and all kinds of fun stuff would happen.

I can't do this with Spore. The same stuff happens over and over again. Granted, it is sometimes fun to see other people's crazy creations, but this has been pretty minor for me.

There is also almost no storytelling. As I play games like this, or strategy games, I start making storylines. Whether it is the story of my crazy family in TS2, or my galactic civilization in GCII. There is no storytelling in Spore though. Umm... I was a cell I ate stuff, and then got ate, then ate stuff. Then I walked around and ate stuff and got ate. Then I killed other tribes, then repeated that with other cities. Now I'm an intergalactic pizza boy. The story is always the same.

I can spend a long time in the creators, but it is just not that fun. I still see the potential of Spore though, so I am almost willing to actually buy an expansion pack (less than $30, please) if it actually adds in a TON of gameplay. They should really just patch that in.

Oh, there's another solution. Forget expansion packs and just release MOD TOOLS. Modders could go crazy with Spore and turn it into an awesome game.

When are they going to release the plant editor that came with the game anyway? If that is part of an expansion then I am done with Maxis forever. It is on the freakin' disk already, don't make me pay for it!

Oh, back on the quote. Those are nice ideas, but they just sound like boring work. Eradicate Grox? Really? Unless there is some magic tool to destroy big groups of solar systems at once, that means visting planet after planet and doing the same boring thing over and over and over. Wheee! Same thing for colonizing an entire arm. That one is even better since as you go you can get bombarded with stupid requests. I can't come up with anything better though, since there is nothing better...

I don't play Spore anymore. I've concluded I am not the target consumer.

Well, you're destined to get bored with any game eventually. The quality of a game is mainly determined by how long the game can keep this "wow-factor" up.

I beg to differ. I still play Sim City 4 at least a few times a month, seeing what new cool variations of cities I could build.

Yea.. .you are right... I still play starcraft, neverwinter nights, MoO2 and Generals ZH too ...

Play something else?

Do productive work?

Yeah, really my advice is just do something other than Spore if you're bored with it. No sense in playing something you're not enjoying. It's just sad, because it's given a lot less enjoyment that other things that I've played in terms of keeping my interest for an extended period of time.

im having the same issue. the game just needs ... more. I keep hearing that there should have been a water stage, and i want that. as well as bugs being fixed, it gets so annoying seeing that error message when i try to use the sporecast or search while in the game. same with the flood of so many crappy creations every time i play and the lack of other people's things populating each stage other than your own or maxis'.

but as long as i have a goal for some achievement/badge .. i manage to log in.

a better final goal would be nice also. just something more than "staff of life" with only 42 charges.

I play Spore when I want to play Spore. I'm not bored with it, and I enjoy it. Others may get bored. Whatever floats your boat, you know?

I just read the first few posts but I get the feeling that replayability is lacking in SPORE. There really is no LONG TERM consequence in the creature you make in creature stage. The outcome (other than obviously cosmetic) is basically the same. Sure, some can argue that you can be hostile, friendly, or industrial but honestly....who cares? It basically all turns out the same.

Just my observation...

I hope you guys realize that the initial release of Spore was designed to get boring after a while. EA has its hopes up for the cash cow that is expansion packs / accessory packs.
