LOL I think I get what you are saying now.

By flying in, noting everything and quitting without saving.... But I am still wondering... When they have you name your planet, if changing the name changes the starting planet?

No. The system name matters, not the planets.

Note down the star system name.

Er, sorry, I guess I should have explained things a bit more. OP has been edited.

You know, somehow, I expected more people to be interested in this. Apparently not!

Awesome, but I discovered the same trick a few weeks ago. I was flying around in my Spaceship and I just stumbled upon one of the save planets, it wasn't used so I could edit it, it was really awesome. I made a few islands but for some reason, in the creature stage, the Sea Monster always got me when I landed on an island. I think that may have been a glitch or something.

In due time..... Everyone is not interested in the same things at the same time.

I have reinstalled many times and for once I am finally able to progress far enough to consider such things as this. I don't know that I will do this but it is still very interesting and helpful. My game still glitches a lot and I have a hard time getting it to hold much terraforming so this may seem pointless at the moment for many.

This may be possible, and I want to do this, but you can't really edit much because of the terrasculpting limitation, that reverts the planet after 50 tools are used on it.

I can't believe no one knew about this. I just assumed a newbie like me knew, so everyone else did. Guess I should have made the thread after all. ._.

I started out playing with this trick only a few days ago and I started to get the planet the way I liked and then it reverted. At first I thought it was a glitch but now I realize it might not have been.

Also, make sure you do all your terraforming rather fast because if you do fly around in that general area and another empire decides to colonize the savegame-planet, the save spot is lost and you will have to restart on another starsystem.

Is it possible to place a colony on it. And then have two civillazations on one planet.

No you can't. It removes the planet from the list of starting planets.

Brilliant idea! I will try it out asap. I'm curious to see what'll happen if I make the whole planet covered with water and then play on it in the creature stage.
