I'm interested in schizophrenia mostly because the inaccurate online tests I take tell me to consult a doctor immediately, which is slightly foreboding.

Anyways, some other symptoms of schizophrenia can include having an idea or thought that you stick to: one person with schizophrenia said he'd heard a message from God telling him to walk in the desert for 40 days without food or water: and after 3 years of psychiatric care, he STILL attempted to do it.

Some schizophrenics are overweight, they frequently go over bad or embarassing scenes from their past in their heads and can often have delusions: they can perform miracles no one else can, they can see things no one else can, they can do things that no one else can.

Schizophrenics are also usually antisocial and I'm not sure but I think some can have irrational fears, but I'd have to get back to you on that.

As for the treatment of it, I'm of no use to you there. I only know a bit about the disorder.

As for "love at first sight", there is no such thing. There is LUST at first sight.

I maintain the belief that love and any form of positive affectionate emotions (such as friendship) are a way of shackling you from your true potential. How many married people spend hours on end at the lab finding cures for diseases? How many more spend hours on end standing in line buying things for their kids? Enough said.

Another note: Don't have your characters pass out randomly. I had one RP where each person had their character collapse when they went offline so they didn't "miss anything". It wasn't a Scrubs RP, where that might've been acceptable, instead we spent half the time running around getting smelling salts. Ugh.

These guides REALLY need to be stickied!

If you're not going to already, you might want to put the actual definition of a psychopath. People seem to think that it's just a big guy trying to chop your head off.

Well, i agree a many people out there do stupid things to drain the attention to their characters. I don't want to be rude but; RP are... Usually based upon a fiction. And that fiction is usually as unrealistic as the hollywood movies. Realism is necessary but if you get too real, the fiction/story can get really boring. I really liked your argument example. But i cannot really find a way to put it into a rp (not the ones i play).

A second though... Yeah... Many people are getting too well with their allies. They actually can start pointlessly but "getting the story more interesting"-ly.

Many feelings like love are really hard to be realistic at. Take me as an example. Im 16. Only had a girlfriend once which didn't even feel like a relation ship. Now what do i know about love? Not much. How can i express it here if i cannot even express it in the real life.

Still; you have taken the risk of annoying people and did a good thing. Well done. I hope such lame players will read this. Unfortunately... Most will be so lame that they wont admit these. You might want to show some examples from famous rp's. That would be risky but... better

I looked at that, and I was like "I already do all that stuff!" Then, I looked at all my posts, and realized I didn't. It certainly adds a block of text to your posts when you add the thoughts and emotions of characters very specifically and realistically. Great guide, Osaka!

Autism and any other spectrum are barely understood and it infuriates me to have "Certain" individuals confuse it for mental retardation! I have PDD-NOS, and I'm not an Idiot! Hell I have an A-B grade average! Moving on....

What about depression?

I don't think depression is up there on its own.

Wasn't there a suggestion for other traits for main characters? I don't recall. Primarily because I'm out of ideas.

I read this thread...and I just lost half of my Sporum self-esteem points. Now that I think about it, probably nearly all of my characters went from with realism in one form or another...WAHH!!! *crys in shame*

I completely agree that people are losing realism with their charries. Some people say, for example (JUST MAKING THIS UP):

She ran quickly from the beast.

Where is the detail in that? Where is the fear? This is what it should sound like, in my mind:

She ran quickly away from the beast, her mind focused on only getting away, things around her becoming quite a blur as she dashed through the forest.

See? Sakky is totally cool by making this, and I wish to thank you sakky for making such an important thread.
