I guess it was REALLY unfair when Parkaboy used the adventure size hack in one of his adventures for the effect of another planet. Normal people can't just - oh wait, they can do that, especially since he didn't keep it a secret. And they can even more so when it's just a simple cheat included in the game.
Players who use cheats on creations should get credit. Did they just pop in a magic cheat and get a cool creation? No, they built it from scratch, over time.

'Size hack'?

You got me interested.

Seems like I'll have a look at the 'search' function of this forum.

Why does it even really matter? Why should I give a crap if you guys use cheats or not? You're not harming anyone or anything. Besides, cheats can do what not-cheats can't! Am I getting Gamerscore for thse "Achievements?" No!

I say they (Maxis) should make a patch that first off, makes you UNLOCK the cheats, and, second, makes it so that you can still earn achievements when using cheats. While Achievements in Spore(TM) should have some kind of reward to them, they're still kind of fun to get.

The end isn't near. The end is Mogenar.

I've done all that 10 times (For alter ego's alter ego) without a single cheat. On one of my games I managed 99,999,999 SporeBucks and 99 planet busters (though I never really use them; I'm a Zealot), plus 99 purple and 99 pink spice in my inventory at one time. This took me about two hours with just 4 purple spice homeworlds. Oh, and this empire has at least 150 colonies. No, cheating is not awesome. It's already waaaaaay too easy. Really, if you have to cheat to do anything you're incredibly lazy.

You aren't really answering my question. Cheating is for lazy losers that have to type in codes just to be able to beat a video game. I've never used a cheat except for the filters for Adventures. You can cheat in real life, but you'll ruin your lazy *** life. If you cheat in video games you ruin you lazy *** gaming experience. EA/Maxis add cheats so people (with a lazy *** life) can use them and so people wouldn't be mad that there aren't any cheats.(excuse my language about people having a lazy***)

I want to only use the cheats that Maxis allows you to use without losing Acheievments.

I think that people take cheating in these games too seriously. If I'm able to enter a keycode that the developers built into the game that EVERYONE is able to access easily and equally, and if EVERYONE uses it, why call it a cheat? If everybody that played Spore used freedom so they could make their creatures totally awesome and complicated, there's no "cheating" involved. It's just another aspect of the game that is used to everyone's advantage.

Hacking is another spectrum. It involves taking what the developers made, altering it for your own personal use, and giving yourself a huge advantage over other players. THAT is cheating.

"Cheating is an act of lying, deception, fraud, trickery, imposture, or imposition. Cheating characteristically is employed to create an unfair advantage, usually in one's own interest, and often at the expense of others."

I don't think that console commands in Spore, TES: Morrowind, Tes: Oblivion, CoD 4 MW, etc. should be called "cheats", because it doesn't place anyone in an unfair advantage, because so many people use them.

Now don't come on me with "Well if everyone smokes weed, does that make it okay to bread the law?" That's different. Cheating isn't harming anyone when it's used properly. Invincibility, infinite ammo, ultra jump height, seeing through walls, having an auto-aim feature, etc. would ruin an FPS experience because if one person uses it, they're unkillable, but if everyone uses it, the match is useless. So it's the properties that the cheat possesses.

In other words, the cheats in Spore can get things done that can be done even without cheats.

SPORE* I WENT OFF ON ANOTHER TANGENT!!!

*lol they replaced Dog Animal Measle Measle Indiana Texas with "SPORE". Gave me a "wtf!?" moment.

For your first playthrough, I wouldn't, it makes victory seem so empty, but on subsequent playthroughs, cheat like crazy to see everything the game has to offer.

lol that's what I do. Like in CoD 4, I played the game (and it was fun), but now I use free camera mode (noclip) and turn on godmode, infinite ammo, all weapons, and 25% speed on virtually every single player game that I do now.

well you should first play through all the stages without cheating and get achievements and stuff then later if you want to use cheats go ahead, using the moremoney cheat really speeds up progress in space stage and civ

Actually its quite the opposite for some people, i use simple cheats because i have a real life and have a hard time finding time for spore so i want to get through the boring stuff fast and on to the more fun parts of the game... theres nothing wrong with that.

getting back to the main question, using video filters through the cheat console (whatever it's called) won't give you joker badges or prevent aquiring achievements. be careful if you use evoadvantage, long as the creature you've made in the creator doesn't use any cheats (addDNA) you should still aquire achievements throughout each stage, though there have been reports that achievements in creature stage won't be aquired with evoadvantage. I still picked up hard mode completion with my cuddly social bunny creature.

my general view on cheating is this: Beat the game in every way you can. even though space stage doesn't really end, try to make it to the center of the galaxy and ally/destroy the Grox. afterwards, cheat if you like to see what you can do differently.

Since achievements have to be earned, cheating shouldn't apply. if you don't care for achievements, cheat to your hearts content if you want. aside from evoadvantage and setconsequencetrait, I don't use other cheats, but then I already slogged my way to the center of the galaxy too

Does it look like I care! If everyone cheats in poker and doesn't get caught would you cheat? It is simply peer pressure; other people cheating makes me feel like people are cheating on me. I want to get acheivements! I feel good when I get an acheivment. Acheivments can also be bragging rights!
Does the freedom cheats still let you get acheivments????

It only takes a day to get to space stage, if you don't have that time, it only takes about 2-3 days, so unless your real life takes up like, 12 hours of the day, not counting time when you are asleep, I'm sure you can do it without cheats.
