Thank you. It's good to know the devs are listening, and that they might have identified what's going on. I'm still wondering what the technical aspects of the crashes/delayed loads/etc. are, and wouldn't mind some techspeak while we wait for a patch.

Goodbye.

I wanted to let the community know that we have been reading your posts on the forums about issues some users are having with the game. We've also been following reports from customer support. We are right now working on consistently reproducing all issues and have fixes for many of them. We will be releasing fixes, but I don't have a time line for when it will be released. We are doing our best to get it out as soon as possible.

Thanks,
MaxisKane

Thank you very much, maxiskane. Is there anything that we can provide that would help? hijackthis files? etc? Anything that will help resolve this problem sooner I'd be glad to help out.

Mac patch has major problems. It downloads to around 95% then stalls for a very long time. When i forced quit it, it caused my game to lose sound. Apparently there are plenty of other people with the mac version getting this problem as well as some getting crashes. We need a fix ASAP!!!!

Okay, I'm having a bit of a problem and haven't found another venue to address it through. I'm running Vista on a 2.8 dual core, 5 gigs of ram, ATI 128 mb video. My game will randomly "Stop Working" as the Vista error message puts it. It has happened perhaps 5 times in 40 hours of play. I have not been able to reproduce the crash with any certain action combinations or anything. I get no other error message with which to try to diagnose what it going on. Can anyone clue me on a resource? Is there an error log kept by the game? Does the game have a "report error" function to it.

It sux when you've played for an hour and forgot to do a save while in space only to lose all your progress to that point.

Word up some help folks, if you can.

Peace

There are a lot of other threads about general issues like this, probably better to post there - but - generally this error means Spore and your computer's drivers got in a fight. I would start by updating your video drivers to see if things get any better - although if you're using nVidia, be careful, the 17x drivers really dog my machine - 16x ran a lot better on my older 6800 card.

You have no idea how upset I am the patch hosed my game and uninstall reinstall with no patch is still hosed so I am sitting on the sidelines waiting for a fix.

However, thank you so much for creating this thread and looking into our issues, for almost a week no one was even acknowledging us with patch problems on the forums and in some cases we were being ridiculed and scorned by the rest of the community.

So although I am constantly trolling the Sporum instead of playing Spore I am very happy in the knowledge you guys are aware of the issue and working on it.

I'm using vista64 and nvidia GPU and thankfully i haven't had a single problem with Spore on a technical level. So thanks for everything so far

this doesnt mean that i wouldn't like gameplay issues addressed, many of which have already been posted. for me, the 2 most important ones would be:

1) more depth in tribe and civ stage - currently i have zero motivation to start a new creature and trawl through these boring stages again. there have been some geat suggestions for improvements in other threads/boards

2) an actual fleet for space stage - each ship could be upgraded independently, allowing you to equip frontline battleships more heavily than simple back room spice-runners

anyway keep it up and eagerly awaiting patchs..or low priced high content expansions.

I started yesterday a new game in cellstage which is the first game i start with the patch. In cellstage i had no problems at all. But in creature i got the "long known buddies":
1. Long loading times for creatures. Especially annoying with epics!

2. Sometimes no sound. Especially i noticed this while socializing.

3. Animationbugs in that sense that my or other creatures are doing actions but those actions are not animated. For example by socializing: my creature sings, but it just stands there and looks. Or an epic has taken my creature, but it wasn't animated. I wondered why my creature won't run or do just anything as an epic was behind me. Then suddenly i was in the epic's grasper for some seconds in which the camera got shaked and a broken animation throwed me then away.
For number 2 and 3 see those videos i made:

Youtube - Soundbug

Its good to hear that my Mac isnt the only one with a problem. The patch didn't download correctly, I was forced to quit before it finished however now my game freezes when I am in space mode moving from planet to planet. Is there going to be a correction to this?
