wow.... so many ppl... thanks for the support! we gotta keep this thread alive so they can see it...

funny someone saying that i should be in the dev team... big coincidedce for i actually AM a game developer by trade... sadly, i´m not a part of the Spore team, tho...

i´m gonna take some of your suggestions and put ´em up at the first post, so they can easily be noticed... but mind that some of the changes suggested here, brilliant as the are, can only be done in expansion packs...

thanks again! let´s try and make this game as great as it can be!

Anyway - some of these ideas are good. I'd like to add one thing: when in Space, give us the possibility to become everything we meet!

I'd like to take the control of a new creature met on a new planet - and explore this world in creature mode. Or to take the control of this intriguing tribe on the eco destabilized T1 moon of this gazeous giant... Or taking the control of a city on this civilized world I just met.

Or "creating life" on a new world by playing the cell stage.

It even doesn't have to be useful for the player - even if there is no "rewards" for taking control, even if you can't "win", it would be fun to do.

I've seen so many planets I would like to "zoom on" and explore as a local creature...

And now for something completely different: Editors.
Not the plant or the hat editor, no: game play editors.

I would like to have an "game play editor" allowing me to choose the exact game play condition of a specific save: density of nest, density of fruit trees, carnivore/herbivore ratio, rarity of new parts, spice well density, will the game be more "diplomatic" or more "military"? How many dna point do you need to end creature, how many tribes to "conquer" before the end of tribe phase?
At the galactic scale, something like choosing the frequency of empires and their degree of technological advance, etc...

And I'd like a "quest editor". the ability to create mysteries, quests, secondary goals - a scenario of my own. And to upload it

these are all very good ideas! but i think they are more likely to be done in an expansion pack....
but well thought of

Changes I would like to see, just with what we have...

Once you get to the center, unlimited "42", and a hyper-drive to really surf on the part of the galaxy that looks a bit reallistic and similar to what they've shown in the past. The Core.

Really important one... Since sharing and downloading cool mine and other people´s creations is what can keep this unfinished game alive, somehow. Please, let us load whatever creation we have on our Sporepedia, using the creature-creator-tool, if so... Now can start "playing" with any creation... Took time for them to realize this was important. But I need to put end to random Maxis stuff and start deciding what "really" goes into my galaxy.

A meaning for life... No, forget that, I already know that: "People are not buying enouh hats..."

"It would be a nice feature for collectors like me to have the details button in the card that appears in the upper right after the first encounter. This would save me from having to go into the sporepedia, dig through all the other things I've scanned and click the details button there."

Okay as for the Card thing goes with scanning the item, simple press Escape, go to the spy glass(after scanning it) and click the creature, building or what ever else you want a "biger" card of, sorry but this was already placed into the game. OMG! EA and Maxis thought of something usefull already!

I have faith in EA and Maxis, Al tho when i look at the uber "turret" i go "oh its a uber Satellite!"
Turret: 1. a small tower, usually one forming part of a larger structure.
2. a small tower at an angle of a building, as of a castle or fortress, frequently beginning some distance above the ground.
3. Military. a dome-like, sometimes heavily armored structure, usually revolving horizontally, within which guns are mounted, as on a fortification, ship, or aircraft.
4. Fortification. a tall structure, usually moved on wheels, formerly employed in breaching or scaling a fortified place, a wall, or the like.

there´s a new cheat "-evoadvantage" that allows you to start creature stage with any creature you want...

as for unlimited "42"... there COULD be a cheat for that...

I've been giving this a lot of thought since Spore's release.

Don't get me wrong. I like Spore. I waited a long time for it, sucked into the hype, like everyone else. I *WANT* to like Spore. But it's got some problems.

How could they make Spore more enjoyable to *everyone* with a few fairly simple changes to the current product?

A few ideas have come to mind. Please forgive any of these which overlap with previously-made suggestions.

1. Let us decide how the game computes its equivalent of Drake's Equation. I find space far too crowded, as do a lot of people. I want finding intelligent life to be more of a "wow" moment, and less of an "oh crap" moment.

2. Let us use whatever creature parts we want, and let us upgrade them by purchasing stats for them, rather than being forced to build a creature who isn't true to your plan for the creature. I'm sick of creating creature after creature that end up with the same parts, simply because they have the best stats.

3. In Space stage, when we're in a planet's atmosphere, STOP THE GALAXY CLOCK, just as the game is paused when you're inside the colony planner interface. What is the point of bombarding us with alerts that we can't respond to until we return to the galactic map anyway? For that matter, you might as well pause the outside galaxy when we're in solar-system view as well. Let us work on whatever we're working on NOW, and deal with communications with other empires when we're at the galaxy map screen. And stop the clock, don't just let the messages pile up and hit us with all of them when we zoom out to galaxy view. STOP THE CLOCK. Relativity, anyone? Time is relative. Lunchtime, doubly so.

4. Like some others have suggested, I would enjoy Spore a lot more if I could decide what kind of space game I want to play. It's a big galaxy. I'd like to be able to tune the starting conditions of each game's starting star cluster. Maybe I don't want to be pressured into starting an endless war with the Grox, and one I can't adequately defend against with a few paper turrets and a single delinquent uber turret per planet.

I feel like more of a Dog than a God.

Sometimes I'd like to just turn off the Grox, or turn off pirate raids, or at least give myself a fat diplomatic handicap to make it easier to focus on other things if I didn't set up the space phase with constant harassment and warfare in mind.

5. There is no real reward associated with allying in space phase. Those paper ships they send you aren't worth the hoops you end up jumping through when you ally in space phase. Why? Because allies always end up at war with each other, and you end up disappointing both races at best, or having to destroy one or both allies at worst.

The same problem made me sick of playing Sins of a Solar Empire. The diplomacy system sucked. Allies couldn't keep their hands off each other, making it pointless to ally with them in the first place.

That's the sort of poorly-considered gameplay mechanic that forces a certain type of outcome in a game that should instead let the player go about things in a way that best suits their own play style.

Make it so that anyone allied with you is also allied with your other allies. No fighting, guys.

6. We're not pounding on the dinner table demanding elegant modding tools, but let us mod the game. We bought it. Most of us who bought it did so under the mistaken impression that it would be a cosmological sandbox anyway.

Open up the rest of the cheats. Give us debug mode. Post the basic information we need to start seriously modding the game into something we'll want to still be playing by the time the first expansion hits store shelves, before Spore fades from our memory as just another disappointing bait-and-switch.

I have a few suggestions if it's not a bother.

1. If possible, it would be nice if one could restart at a a selected stage on a planet instead of having to create a new save just to replay a certain stage with one of your favorite creatures.

2. More tribal interactions could be added, such as one tribe asking you to eradicate a rival or you being able to bribe other tribes (with the gift interaction) to gain their alliance. It would also be an improvement if other tribes battled with/performed for each other and domesticated animals.

3. (hypothetical) I'm not sure if this would be possible or not, but it would be interesting if your tribe could use domesticated animals (or members of the same species) as mounts for battle or to help with their musical performances.

4. In the space phase, colonies could be allowed to build additional space ships for defence (it could work with the player buying them like they did with vehicles in the civ phase).

5. Perhaps in the diplomatic tab a "I'd like you to make peace with someone" option to help with the issue of two warring allies.

6. To add some more tradion options, perhaps Maxis could add the ability to trade the varius creatures and plants for Sporebucks (maybe sentients could be sold as slaves by the less moral of races)?

* space again, why can´t i settle on a star which already has a colony by someone else??? i should be able to settle on that colony´s PLANET if i wanted to! and then i would be able to deal with them as if i was playing the civ stage.. same goes for planets with tribes

Seconded (if possible), I'd like to see my vehicles actually doing something other than collecting spice.

I think their should be some more realism, idk how easily this could be patched in but specifically in creature phase I'd like their actually to be a time length for egg hatching, some may be against this but an option to turn it off or on maybe? I'd like this because i feel like im not paying as one creature for a long time adding this egg timer would help this, maybe like a half hour and you could hatc it whenever u want.

All excellent ideas! I'm especially in favor of what Moach and Flerndip had to say. Spore is a great game, really, but it was promised to be so much more than it actually turned out to be. I feel a bit cheated.

The dev team should get to work right away, implementing a lot of this stuff that was originally promised to be there.

These are all excellent suggestions!! If they at least fixed these elements of the game, I could probably live with and still enjoy the post-2005-era product we ended up with.

I agree with pretty much everything said there!

I 100% agree that space should be more of a void than a battle for colonization space!

Every time I get into the space age I think, "ok, sprinting time!" The other races seem to EXPLODE with their expansion... when you have 2 stars, it seems as though EVERYBODY has 8 or more... and it's a battle to find more room for you to colonize...

and yes, colonizing in the same planet as another to make an interracial multicultural planet (bringing back the civ wars if need be or the trading routes within the planet themselves)

Buying more ships for planetary defenses is a great idea! buy them at say 200,000 and they don't do anything but scout around a planet that you purchase them at! And even make them cheaper at your home planet, or more expensive with a lesser Planetary value...

Happy Huntin'!
