Coordinates, you can see a wormhole's set of coordinates (or anything's, in fact) by visiting it and rolling your mouse over the home icon above the timeline.

Treb2466 wrote:During the posting of those wormhole mapping threads, they discussed many theories about the Spore wormholes. Here were some of them.

Are there 42 wormholes in an arm? Seems like something Maxis would do.” -- nice idea, but when the wormhole count went past 210 (42 times 5), they knew that was wrong. Is the actual number of 336 just random? Nope -- 42 times 8 equals 336. So, it seems that Maxis slipped in another cute reference to 42 (a number from Hitch-hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy).

I was guessing around 50 wormholes per arm... so 300 total, but I am likely way off.” -- well, if you count the core as another “arm”, the way that I did, then 336 could have been equal to 6 areas with exactly 56 in each one. But, unfortunately they are not spread out in an even manner. There are 64 in arm 1 (Earth’s location), 48 in arm 2, 54 in arm 3, 49 in arm 4, 55 in arm 5 and 56 in the core (Grox territory). Just random assignments it seems.

it could be that wormhole names indicate where they link to?... I think a CLG prefix always connects to a RTC” -- it would be nice if the label had some significance. In my galaxy, I have these prefixes and counts: 24 ANM, 21 CLG, 22 CTN, 26 CVN, 26 CYG, 21 EDI, 9 GRB, 10 GRBP, 32 PLT, 9 RB, 11 RBP, 26 RTC, 31 SGT, 26 SPC, 22 TRG and 20 UIP. Do they connect in any special way? Well, here is just a partial break-down of the prefix connections in my galaxy. A whole list would be much too long, but this should be enough to see if there is a pattern. They just seem like random connections to me, unless you can see some secret order to them?

2 ANM -> ANM ..... 2 CLG -> CTN ..... 1 CTN -> ANM ..... 4 CVN -> ANM .... 2 CYG -> ANM .... 2 EDI -> ANM
1 ANM -> CTN ...... 5 CLG -> CVN ..... 2 CTN -> CLG ..... 5 CVN -> CLG ..... 2 CYG -> CTN ..... 2 EDI -> CLG
3 ANM -> CVN ..... 2 CLG -> EDI ...... 2 CTN -> CVN ..... 2 CVN -> CTN ..... 2 CYG -> CYG ..... 1 EDI -> CTN
2 ANM -> CYG ..... 1 CLG -> GRB ..... 1 CTN -> CYG ..... 1 CVN -> CYG ...... 1 CYG -> EDI ..... 1 EDI -> CVN
2 ANM -> EDI ...... 2 CLG -> PLT ...... 1 CTN -> EDI ..... 2 CVN -> EDI ...... 1 CYG -> GRBP ... 1 EDI -> CYG
1 ANM -> GRB ..... 1 CLG -> RB ....... 1 CTN -> GRB ..... 1 CVN -> GRBP .... 4 CYG -> PLT ..... 2 EDI -> EDI
3 ANM -> PLT ...... 3 CLG -> RTC ..... 3 CTN -> PLT ...... 1 CVN -> PLT ....... 2 CYG -> RB ...... 1 EDI -> GRBP
1 ANM -> RTC ..... 3 CLG -> SGT ..... 4 CTN -> RBP ..... 1 CVN -> RB ......... 1 CYG - RTC ....... 2 EDI -> PLT
5 ANM -> SGT ..... 2 CLG -> TRG ..... 1 CTN -> RTC ..... 1 CVN -> RBP ....... 2 CYG - SGT ....... 2 EDI -> RTC
1 ANM -> SPC ................................. 2 CTN -> SPC ..... 2 CVN -> RTC ....... 6 CYG -> SPC ..... 1 EDI -> SGT
1 ANM -> TRG ................................. 2 CTN -> TRG ..... 2 CVN -> SGT ...... 3 CYG -> UIP ..... 2 EDI -> SPC
2 ANM -> UIP ...................................2 CTN -> UIP ..... 1 CVN -> TRG .................................. 2 EDI -> TRG
.................................................................................... 2 CVN -> UIP ................................. 1 EDI -> UIP

The galaxy view below was originally posted in the “Wormhole mapping project “ by Vadtec. He planned to take the wormhole information and create a visual map. It appears to be just the background clouds in the Spore galaxy. I have labeled the arms starting with the Earth’s arm as number one, which is the way the wormholes are listed in the first post of this thread. I think you will be able to match it with the galaxy display in your own Spore game by comparing the gaps. Oh, by the way, the “crossed-bones and skull” at the core is just my little joke -- I destroyed all of the Grox in my galaxy.

I hate to quote a post this long.

How do you orient that? how can i align my galaxy to be like that?

Seriously, this game is fun. I get a bonus in it if you sign up from this link and play to your second village. this will all make sense in good time if you play it. if not you may never know. And not knowing is not fun right?

I think you can do it simply by using the middle mouse button while in a space game.

Yes, this is true. You have press the scroll button in though - otherwise you just zoom in and out.

Wait a moment, Earth's about halfway between the innermost corner and the center of that thumbprint-esque spot in the third arm. Here's a video that proves it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ouK3HPK2lTc

Hmm...that is interesting though I'm pretty sure that the location of travel via wormholes has a a very slight similarity if any. However, I did find Earth at about 20pcs away from my 4th or 5th save file (which is the first that i cheated on so i didn't get the achievements so I had to use wormholes from Arm#2 (Death Empire) to that area to get it then i saved, blew up Earth and restarted so Earth was still intact. However, I was lucky at finding a path containing 6 wormholes in total: the first was approx. 15pcs from Death's HP it lead to near the base of arm#2 where there were two nearby wormholes one leading to a location 18.63pcs from the core that requires instellar drive 3+ to get to the nearest planet (which i colonized since it was empty) and then easy going to the core. The other leading to an outpost of the file near Earth but its not to far. Of the 6 wormholes (which I have renamed since to make locating easier) only 2 (not connected) had similar name I believe it was GRBP and GRC but i'm not sure

I've also relized that the letters and numbers just after the Hyphen somewhat relate between the connecting Wormholes, sorry this is long but its just my observation with a little story about it.

A friend of mine once said to me:
I wish a fiery death unto you after I rip out your intestines with a bike pump and make you do 1,000 no-handed push-ups. After you've been burnt into ashes I will kill you again...

No their homeworld is right next to the core, if I remember correctly from when the map was originally made the dot was made to be an example for marking where each black hole was.

So, I hate to point this out, but that's not where Earth is on the map. The correct arm is marked as "3". On the list of coordinates for the wormholes it's actually listed correctly as the arm where Earth is located, but not so on the map.

And what's the red dot?

He is right actually, Earth is in arm 3 on the map. I have checked several youtube video's and that 'thumb print' is pretty much where it is, farther towards the core after the first gap... If that doesn't make sense- ignore it and search the area. As for the red dot, that was supposed to be a marker for every black hole- but that would have been a lot more work.
