Ocelot: You're stuff is good, but that doesn't mean you have notoriety like the UBD have.

This is why the delete function is used to only take it out of your game. You don't like it, click the little trash can and go on with your game, if it actually breaks the maxis rules though, then you suggest to ban it.

Probably not. Luckily, all my creations are heavily armored so no... natural parts can be seen.

And therein lies my point. People just care now because of Hydro being UBD. If it happened to any of his non-UBD supporters or fans, no one would care unless they had an army of mass subs at their call.

OK, this is a very bad idea on a whole bunch of levels.

If you are unfairly accused, almost any of us on the sporum knows how to tell someone else on the sporum what's happening and why. I would never be part of some loosely organized "posse" to run about looking for "offensive" creations. If I happen to see something that bothers me, I comment first (no downrate or threats), I just ask them what's on their mind.

I've found creations that got shared by accident (like by siblings) and things that the person had no idea could be seen as "obscene" or "sporn". A lot of the detatched male anatomy is actually just silly to me and I find it funny, but my friend from Brunei finds is VERY offensive. She also thinks nudity is very offensive. With her, it's a cultural thing I respect. Also my friend who is very strict christian and very modest.

I don't see modesty as a miserable or narrow thing at all. I think it's a choice people make, like being vegan. The world being what it is, if you want to be chaste, or modest, or vegan, it becomes your responsibility to avoid the "badness", since it won't automatically go away.

So when I see something that's offensive to me, I try to find out where the other person is coming from. I have typically only reported people if there is text that goes with the creation that is nasty, in the case of the ape thing and the detatched parts, both had text that was sociopathic (in the estimation of my cousin who works for the DCI, so it wasn't just me). It wasn't just the image, it was what was said along with it. One of them took the text away, I see now.

So I think posse attacks by the "moral majority" would be horrible, and would turn, like so many other things, into fun with alternate accounts.

I don't think that's fair at all. I still contend that we know how to ask each other for help, and until we are in the position and turned down, it's not fair to speculate.

One of the last posts I read by zevias (sp) says he is willing to aid anyone who needs the help, and I believe it.

Despite some of what I've seen recently, I still think people here are less interested in "fame" than being creative and seeing their imagination come to life.

i consider this whole idea bad strictly because if you don't like someones creation because its either more popular than your, that or you just plain don't like it, you can remove it.

ashkelon- My point is this came to the spotlight because of Hydro. If it happened to someone who has never come to the Sporum or someone without good connections to friends in game, then nothing would ever have been said about it.

And, after all, you can always keep the thing out of your game.

Or, if you feel very strongly, you can delete the work of the creator and ban them from your games.

Well, I hate to sound cold, but if you spend all your time worrying about all the horrible things that might be happening where you can't see and hear them, you will be awake every night of your life.

Believe me, I'm not ignorant, and there are real things going on that DO glue my eyes open and keep me awake for the horror and shame of them, but they are not so trivial as a something that happens with games.

If bad things happen to people who are not on the forum, nothing you do on the forum is going to help them. I'm not going to comment to every new user telling them to come here -- Maxis does that.

For those people, they are just going to have to depend on their own resources.

There are homeless people who were cold last night. It snowed here. We took around blankets and hot packs and fuel yesterday evening. I have to ride back along the river with the ATV to get to some.

It's a matter of perspective.

More censorship equals more possibility of abuse and further restriction of the system. Applies to more than just trivial entertainment content, but that's a whole new bag of worms.

An awful idea for too many reasons to list.
