They didn't cut corners. They just sanded them down so kids wouldn't hurt themselves on the sharp edges.

They didnt just sand down the corners, they sanded down the edges, the edge's edges and the kept going till all they had was a little sphere that is spore as we know it today. But now that sphere has been eaten by the players and so they must fill the gaps with expansions. BUT! We are now forgotten to Maxis! No recent activity from their HQ they are just making little kiddie games now and thats annoying!

The kiddy market is very profitable. When 6-year olds see a game they like, they'll ask their parents to buy it for them. Spore takes advantage of this by allowing kids to unleash their imagination through making creatures, no matter how messed-up grown-ups think it is. It's like scribbles. Adults think it's ugly but kids don't.

BlackBird didn't like it, so it got locked.

Despite not living up to my original expectations, the game still entertains me.

Creators are great at least. I'm one of the lucky players who bought the game with the creators in mind due to having been introduced to spore by the Creature Creator demo.

I hope Maxis at least release more expansions to pad out Spore. Instead of kiddy stuff like Spore hero.

OP: This thread is a duplicate of many other threads. In the future, please use the search button before making a thread.

Also have you ever played 'Old Spore'? If not then how do you know it was better? For all we know the GDC Demo was simply an interactive video and had no real gameplay at all or it could have been an actual game. Until one of us goes and finds Wright and interrogates him, the world may never know.

Please check out my creations. I will attempt to comment back at some point or another. Real life and all. If I haven't returned the comment please remind me.

People really need to think in perspective of Maxis. They made a great game. Not perfect, but great. People shouldn't flame it just because it's not perfect. But, people should politely give suggestions to Maxis. They check the Sporums every day to answer our questions, and read our suggestions. They CARE about our ideas and gameplay. By the way, EA is not evil, as some people think. Where would Spore be without a producer? Will Wright had a dream to create the first ever evolution game. It might not have been what he had hoped, but keep in mind that he LEFT Maxis.

Long story short, Maxis is GOOD. Will Wright is GOOD. And EA is GOOD.

Spore today is a 7 Gigabyte Game, which is already to massive for allot, and I mean allot of Computers. The original Spore with all of its features would've made for a game much to large for most processors on the market today. So expansion packs are in the making both for the profit of the company, and to keep us interested in Spore so they can begin adding on to the Core game. It's a matter of having the money, and the fan base to keep the good game running.

I don't think the problem here is the graphics or anything that would hog resources. I don't see how adding a water stage for example would affect the performance outside that phase, or how that one would require a better computer than creature stage.
And don't tell me that they had problems with controls in water stage, because that is garbage, total garbage.

Sorry but im going to say it.....

They had problems with anamatain/navagatin. + It was a prototype. I dont think they had time to finish it all in the REAL game. Our spore that we play today.

They didn't have time... whatever... I guess destroying the game took that long.
