Didzo's right.

You're talking like you have Wonka-vision for video games.

There's a reason why we have rentals available and you certainly cannot pass sound judgment on something which you have never laid eyes or hands in completion or you may as well begin working at the nearest rumor mill.

Rentals still cost money - money doesn't just come from nowhere, you know. It's surprising how many people take the monetary expense of a given thing completely for granted, like it doesn't factor into the equation. It does - subtract the price of a product from the quality of the product, and the difference is value. Something may well be very cheap, but if it's still complete and utter crap then its still not worth buying. Likewise an expensive product which is very good still may not be affordable enough to justify said quality.

Now sure, you can't determine the quality of a product when you haven't sampled it, but you can't judge people who don't want to take the money risk on something as trivial as an entertainment product - they may well be judging without having played, but one would hope that they put the state of their finances before the need to sample what is in the end a trivial product.

Like I've said, you don't need to buy a game to see how it plays, I'm not talking about how well it runs or anything, just what I've seen. Seeing one trailer I have seen the following:
Childish music
Childish graphics
Childish gameplay
If you like to play a game that deserves to be rated yC for young children, then I highly recomend you looking into it some more. If you don't I would not suggest it. I could be seven, and I would hate still hate this game, and I'm not telling anyone they have to believe what I say just because I saw a couple minuites of what I think is a load of crapola, I'm just saying that I don't recomend it if you think Spore is childish and un-realistic and what-not. Also, to OneBlackBird, yes, a trailer isn't the game, but the whole point of it is to show you about the game. A trailer was meant for that, exactly for one sole purpose-TO SHOW YOU ABOUT THE GAME. So before you come to me yelling at me because my opinnion is based of a trailer, try remembering the point of trailers. Just because it doesn't show you the entire game, doesn't mean it doesn't give you a basic view of some things in the game.

This is my honest opinnion:
If you like things to be a bit more mature, more detailed, good graphics, non-cliche challenges like running from a giant ball rolling after you, realism, scientific, etc., etc.- I would definately not recomend this game.
If you like fantasy lands and everything always being happy and easy, then I recommend it.

I will admit, saying Nintendo ruins everything not by them was a bit biased, but honestly I think it's true, the only two cases I've known them to use another consoles ideas and get a similiar games, GTA game for ds, and Overlord minnions, they have looked horrible. I saw one picture of that for ds, and the minnions looked like a childrens plush toy, I just hated Nintendo from then on. They are also making a Kingdom Hearts game for DS(I), Nintendo will be dead to me if they prove to me again they can't handle a game that originated elsewhere than a Nintendo console.

They shouldn't be the ones writing the review then. If they are not sure whether to spend money on it, they should refer to a review from someone who HAS bought/rented it and played it. You can't make spinning yarns about something legitimate no matter how you look at it.

There are game testers, they play the game, play it for bugs and glitches and stuff, they test it again after being modified, then review it, being payed for playing games is not a myth, though sometimes you don't, but then again, they probably aren't a 'pro game reviewer.'

And reading said reviews and watching TRAILERS, will help you determine weather you like the game or not, without playing it, as their points are to help you form an opinnion.

Yes trailers may help you decide whether to buy the game, but they are not the game. If they were the game, no one would have ever complained about 2005 Spore because that's all the reviews would be based on and this game would be perfect because its trailer was in 2005.

The trailer is meant to sell the product and make it look cool. A review is not unless paid for by a party favorable to the producer.

I just haven't been impressed with Nintendo in general. They've actually made 'coaching' games (what?) for the DS that depending on the game can: teach you too cook, excercise, and stop smoking. Insert Epic Facepalm here.

And the Wii has been overpopulated with movie games and horribly made games in general and Spode knows how many Guitar Hero knockoffs or add-ons.

Please check out my creations. I will attempt to comment back at some point or another. Real life and all. If I haven't returned the comment please remind me.

There is lots of shoveware on Nintendo consoles, yes, but don't forget: Sales figures don't lie. So long as people keep buying it, it will continue to be produced. The Guitar Hero knockoffs, etc. are on every console anyway.

Where I live, the stores at least have a variety of diffrent games for the other consoles. For Nintendo, I see very little variation in their titles. Maybe the stores in my area just suck?

Well this has been an exiting thread.
Why don't we try again.
I figured that to write a game review people would figure out you need the game.
This is the same reason why you don't see movie reviews where the writer just watches the commercial.
