Hell to the YES! One of the best games I've ever played!

"All those who hear this message, let it be known that the great goddess Jerichonia, the Great Dragon has willed that Jerichonians are the chosen species, the one meant to carry on the mantle. Do not stand in our way, or you shall burn in our firey path!"- First Jerichonian Archon, Narda Romul

Not exactly the game I was led to believe it would be, so I'm extremely dissapointed in that respect. ZERO technical help on these forums for the people who are having real difficulty with their software, and you can bet it's not just the few people who've posted, it's more like thousands worldwide. The overall experience is akin to investing your money in a bottle of 1787 Chateau Lafite, then realising someone has nicked the contents and replaced it with some cheap plonk.

If you're enjoying the game, then good luck to you.

Personally, I won't be purchasing anything with EA stuck on the box ever again.

I'm enjoying it's uniqueness and the little things here an there.

current issues
* The difficulty settings should realy have a noticable effect I didn't notice any difference between easy and norm
* space neighbors needs toned down and a little less psyco boy jack militants vs a bunch of cuddly sheep crap shoot it is now
* uploading creatures at the end of the stage vs every revision.
* auto save at least when you advance to next stage
* if a fight can be won by flying in circles blindly clicking fire torpedo why can't automated defenses obliterate pirates?
* all stages leading to space are too easy. No penalty for death and you can't lose unless you walk away from your pc.
* diplomacy needs help. Pick a random amount to give me and see if i like it. I did two 100K bribes in space that failed. Followed by a demand for 65K. WTF? "I just gave you 100K that you said didn't do anything so I'm now broke. What do you mean I now must die?"

I'll continue to play with the hopes of a patch to fix things in the near future. If no patch I'm sure I'll get very bored and move on as the enjoyment fades.

I'm going to like it 2/3 less if I upgrade my PC this x-mas. I've heard all about EA's great customer support taking months to get back to people.

sotik, I'm saying qq becuase it seems like your more or less trolling the topics to post something that the post was stating is a problem. The game isn't the problem, its PICNIC. Problem In Chair Not In Computer. The problem as I see it is your right no game is perfect, but this game imo is 10 out of 10.

I should have known better about posting this thread, becuase now its attracking exactly the types I was saing made me upset, and now everyone is posting hate mail. I'd rather have more praise post, seriously. This game is great.

I really enjoy this game. I agree that it isn't that deep from a gameplay stand point. But it sure is deep from a content standpoint.

I love Spore. However I also love the Sims, Sims2 and Simcity, so shoot me. I get my butt whooped on a daily basis in Space but I am a tenacious little creature and I just keep going back out. I also ask for help and honestly I don't have a lot of complaints, couple minor ones, no big deal. I'm not above asking for help and I just go looking through the forums to see if anyone else is having the same problem and presto, sometimes I even find a solution. There is also a fantastic link to a really good guide in the hints and tips section.
Love Spore.

Concur. Spore is awesome, even if it's a little hard and needs a patch. This game is way beyond most games nowadays. Even when it gets hard I'm still addicted.

mxdoom, can I just point something out? Your title of the thread is misleading. I came in here expecting negative comments from you because it is past tense. No, that is most certainly not a correction of your grammar, not likely but it did lead me to think oh, this person liked it and now he/she doesn't. I wonder why.
Honestly I'm not nitpicking at you, just a heads up if you can alter the title of your thread because it does appear that you no longer like it until people actually read your positive comments.

I love this game. There are things I wish were different, but I could say that about any game. My wife likes it too and she rarely plays anything.

Part of the reason for bad reviews is that this game is that it is designed to appeal to every demographic except the male 16-30 age group, who are easily offended by "cute" and "colorful" and so-called "casual" things. Unfortunately this demographic makes up the majority of game reviewers and forum trolls. Form your own opinions folks.

I am truly enjoying this game. I honestly thought that something was wrong with me when I read all of the "Smack" that others wrote. I too like mxdoom have played my fair share of fsp, rts, mmog, sim, and the like. Hi, I am Mastoth and I am a WOW-aholic. (Did my 12 step to quit. 1 year free baby! Woot!) I like WOW, I just had a problem.
For me everything was self explanatory up to the space phase of the game. After the dealing with the learning curve I am enjoying it more and more.
There are some things that I would like to see and be able to do.
1.) Track spice price trades so I don't have to remember where to go in space. (Yes, I am lazy that way.)
And 2.) The ability to build a mass armada fleet that is gargantuan! I can think of nothing more fun than showing up on a planet with hundreds of ships and saying, "Hi, stop attacking me or I KILL YOU!" Those are two of my hopes for future expansions.
To all you Spore lovers out there, KEEP ON ROCKIN'!

Did the game actually get bad reviews? Or are you referring to the feedback on these forums? I thought the reviews were pretty good.

A lot of people are peeved that space is too demanding. I don't think that complaint is reserved for the male 16-30 age group. If anything I would think that complaint would be reserved for the casual gamers.

I really, really like Spore.
It definitely has its flaws and setbacks (for one, I was dumbfounded with how I sailed easily through the first stages--just to have Space turn around and whup on me something fierce), but even though at occasional points (space, space, space) I wanted to punch something, it wasn't enough to make me give up altogether, and now Spore is what I was hoping it would be--a fun, relaxing way to pass the time between work and WoW.

listen, all the bad reviews are due to the lack of detail that the game was said to give by it's creator, Will. They cut many details out. The entire Water stage was cut out. That is way people are complaning about it. They baught the game expacting many things, and more then half of those things where cut out of the game. Oh, and you yourself are complaning, so don't be a hipicrit.
