Modular set and prop pieces for what I feel is a very surreal & spiritual environ (even though it is loosely based on real world settings in Cambodia, such as Bayon). Since Maxis has stated that animate creatures can not be part of the GA sporecast for this contest... my creatures for this GA set have now been moved into their own, separate sporecast. So all the 'props' in the entry sporecast are inanimate building pieces & statues. I am assuming that it is ok for me to add vehicles too, so long as they are intended to be sitting still as set dressing (boats tied up to a dock)?

Here is a preview image of one of the act settings. It is difficult to put pieces together appropriately outside of GA (not to mention, I didn't have any of the necessary Spore flora to add into this 'jungle' setting)! But I hope this quick collage will at least demonstrate the potential for constructing the surreal setting as your captain approaches the temple ruins.

I've added a FAQ item to the opening post that addresses having creatures in your Sporecast. I suggest that you check this out and revise your entry, you've got a good start.

So if i made a creature that didn't look like a creature, more like a flower or something, it could be included?


EDIT Dumb question, i'll answer it. Yes.

As a general heuristic, think of what other players might be looking for when they use the GAprop tag. A flower is OK, but the less inanimate, the less appropriate for this challenge.

A question...I am making a Battlezone-style (the Atari one with all those neon green wireframe objects) world for the challenge and have some assets in another Sporecast that are already ideal for it. Is it fine if I include these objects from my other Sporecast (called Vector Graphics)? They are all custom-made (none were derived from another user's creation) and are designed to have different properties in the world. I am considering recoloring some of the objects for this particular Sporecast, but I may adjust the appearance of them (taking out the 'core' spheres from their bodies) to make them look more suitable for the retro world.

I agree with what MaxisCactus said about inanimate objects for GA Props, this means we can pull this effect off best with the Building, Spaceship, and Vehicle Editors, even though we are not restricted to all of them.

Are buildings designed for the landscape of a mission accepted as entries? Like, per say, the floor, walls, and ceilings of a boat on the ocean.

This sounds like a lot of fun but I'm not sure where to start when finding a team. I don't know many people on this forum .
