yeah i gotta say i agree, we should be able to pick armour and outfit colour without changing the colour of our creature, i mean you cant edit the creature itself in the outfit editor so why should it edit the colour?
maybe more fish type mouths?

actually if u set the base colour to black and select the blank styles for coat and detail, ur outfit wount get affected.

Food Chain, doih. There are few Reptilian Herbivore Mouths and few Mammal Carnivore Mouths, not to mention the lack of Probascis (except for the "early creature creator" one) along with more feet, and some more Saurian "Dino" hands along with more detail parts and more "Dinosaur-like" Mouths too, some proper tails, and so on.

You're right...bad example, there. I can only claim lack of adequate caffeine as my excuse!

But as MrAlex said, we can't tweak the bodies of creatures once we hit Tribal, so having to tweak with the colors just to get the right outfit seems rather unfair.

More fish mouths! And feline and canine mouths would be great, too! Having to blow your Complexity on extra facial bits (like the way a cat's muzzle puffs out at the front, where the whiskers are. Whaddya call that? Muzzle puffs...?! Yeah. You know what I mean.) can get really annoying.

Great point. However, I am not sure it would reduce the complexity that much. But, it would help with DNA costs and speed up the process of making a feline creature.

It doesn't blow complexity if you're going for a basic creature, but for something very elaborate (or realistic) looking it can skyrocket quickly. A male lion with a skimpy mane just looks like it has ringworm, so then you're layering ponytail upon ponytail, and suddenly the DNA goes red and screams like a pinched cat.

I've had to play the "Which Part Do I Have To Sacrifice To Make My Thickly-Maned Cat-Like Creature Look Really Feline" Game more times than I care to count. And anyways, having a pre-made feline face just means we have all the more opportunities to play around with variety! Variety goooood...

Variety is good.

What my point is that complexity of a part is based off of the polygons it uses. So a part with a ton of polygons might still eat up a lot of the complexity meter. However, it might be possible it won't take up so many more polygons since there are a lot that get hidden when using multiple parts for a realistic feline face.

Polygons...hmm, I was all thinking about articulation points and went and forgot about the polygon count...

You'd think with the horsepower of your average gaming rig that wouldn't be as much of a problem. But when it's rendering several of your buddies at once, plus the Grox that decided to eat your ship for breakfast, plus the hapless bystander that's watching all this from his backwater T1...I guess they had to cut a few corners here and there... Pooey.

Cool Ideas you guys, like the idea of the tail, trunk,etc. we really do need that. really. really. Keep bringing your ideas to all of my Sporums. A few days or so after the GA Realese I'll make a Sporum asking your opinion on Galactic Adventures. (Only: Galactic Adventures!!) Talk about stuff such as: what you think Maxis can add, remove, or create to make the ne Galactic adventures features work better. Then a few days or so later I'll post this SUPER long Poll asking a bunch of questions on what should be on the next Expansion pack? Keep posted and Keep sending me your ideas too!

Tails, teeth, customizable mouths (teeth sockets in mouths). Tails need enough tweak handles so they snap tightly to the body or a limb used to start a tail. Need a semi-transparent object that auto comforms to whatever it touches to represent fur, but with some tweaks to overide that to make some weird fur like fur spikes or a poodle's tail. More wing options, or at least a set of wings with better tweak handles.

Really need ascension of parts in a row in better scientific/logical sense. Default spore has some wild correlations between ascending part traits and what the parts look like (e.g. the wings rows). They might make some evolutionary sense on the grand scale, but they look kind of silly. E.g. to jump from fly's wings to birds wings. In other words, I'd like a level 1, 2, 3, 4 birds wings, a level 1, 2, 3, 4 insect's wings. Some of this could be avoided by my next suggestion. Or again, more tweak handles on some static parts, like the wings----and maybe throw in alternative textures for those parts.

Also a system that lets parts stack, at least partially. Like count duplicate trait parts at 1/4th value, rather than at zero value as it currently is. Expand trait scales to a max of 10, instead of 5. This is totally needed!!!

For vehicles, we need to be able to turn on/off animation on animated parts. Also need for all vapor trail engines to have color and texture of their visual fx changeable. E.g. We have cool engine parts, but some are green vapor trails, some purple. Need to be able to change the colors. Same for smoke fx on the building parts.

For vehicles/buildings, need to be able to change whether a part is a main part (i.e. nestable in another part) or a detail part (i.e. has to snap onto a main part). That way we can use all the Spore standard parts as nestable or detail parts.

For creatures, a fourth level of coloring would be pretty cool too. Plain, completely flat geometric detail parts for all editors (including Creatures) for getting a fourth level of color detailing would be neat too. We kind of have that vehicles/buildings, but it's a bit tedious to get the thickness of a detail part to be as thin as a decal.

Or else I'll just quit Spore and learn to make movies in Blender.
