This Sweepstakes is only open to residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and Canada (except residents of Quebec) who are 13 years of age or older at time Sweepstakes begins and who had Internet access as of March 20, 2009. Residents of Quebec are not eligible. Employees of Electronic Arts Inc. Sweepstakes is void where prohibited, restricted or taxed by law. All federal, state, provincial, and local laws and regulations apply.

What happens if the 100,000,000th creation is actually made by soemeone outside of the US?

Good question. The eligible entrant disclaimer is specifically stated in the Entry portion (5th paragraph).

"The eligible entry designated the 100 millionth will be awarded the Grand Prize. Entries will be numbered in the order they are received. If any entry numbered with a potentially winning number is not eligible to win, Sponsor will disqualify that entry and the next eligible entry in the order received will be a potential winner."

We really want this to be open to anyone, but for legal reasons we're constrained to keep it to North American territory residents over 13.

Creators in other territories should be on the lookout on their territory's Spore site for similarly themed contests and challenges.

How will you be able to receive your prize(s)? How can we tell you safely where we live and such?

Can we just be 13 or is it 14 and older?

This'll be like playing the lottery... I can only hope to be at home when the number hits!

Oh, and I'll be quite mad if the creation that hits the magic numbered is uncolored and has a name similar to "biubgiyvu".

More importantly, read how you enter in the Paragraph 1 stuff. This has nothing to do with the 100 millionth creation. You can simply mail in a postcard that gets assigned a number and whether it's a postcard or a creation that gets number 100 million, that's the winner.

Oh come on. What legal reasons prevent you from sending people outside of North America the prize? Too cheap to pay for postage and handling?

This is going to sound really negative, but it's the only way for me to say what I actually mean.

So... pretty much, this is encouraging people to make random garbage and try to get lucky. Yeah, great. So they expect us to be motivated by trying to make something that's number 100,000,000... If there are about 90,390,000 creations that have been created over an expanse of 283 days, that's an average of 3.9697 every second. That means that the 100,000,000th will be made in approximately 2,420,800 seconds, or 28.1 days, assuming we continue at this pace.

Since there are about 4 creations every second and about 2688769 total users, if we say that even one tenth of them are active, the odds of winning are 672,192.25 to 1, which is even greater than the odds that you will be in a plane crash, (500,000 to 1) and about the same as being dealt a royal flush in 5 cards, 649,739 to 1.

And now you're discriminating against Quebec and places that aren't America!? Show me the law that says you can't and I'll shut up. (Of course, if you actually show it to me, it'll be a mixture of 'oh, okay' and 'holy crap! there's actually a law!')

In response to this 'motivation,' thanks, but no thanks. I'm more interested in seeing what hiddeous piece of whatever actually becomes the 100,000,000th creation.

You will be contacted by an official Maxis employee who will ask for your mailing address and EA/Maxis will
send out a prize release form for you (your parent if under 18 ) to sign and return and the prize will be sent
to you in about 2 months time (yeah it takes forever to get to you, but well worth the wait)

I know this first hand as I won one of the motherboards for the christmas contest for my "I saw Mommy
Kissing Santa Clause" creation.

Also as far as outside the USA, there are laws in other countries as well as here that prevent including
such entries into any US sweepstakes and not just one but many

As far as this contest goes though, that's a bunch of horse manure if they allow for postcards to be sent in
when it specifically says the 100,000,000th CREATION will be the winner!! They cannot legally do this as
that would totally be false advertisement and they'd be setting themselves up for a major lawsuit

I also agree that this contest is going to cause a major flooding of the MPN with total trash creations once
this gets down the the nitty gritty, and I definitely see some trashy creation (be it box, orb, or stick totally
uncolored) winning this unfortunately Very sad for the ones working there butts off to create something
that they themselves are proud of and make others happy to enjoy it in the process Instead of all
these enticing contests, I think the general population would be much more satified if Maxis actually paid
attention to it's customers by fixing the game issues, the server issues and the flipping rating system,
by showing they actually care that we all spend our hard earned money on their products which keeps their
business up and running, not to mention all the major costs of keeping up with all the specs required on
our pc equipment
