I will use this optimal setup when I get back from work today. I have a nice system with two planets in the green and T3 terraform score. I've got 120 on the colonies but am intensely greedy and destructive (I've wiped out my first empire that kept attacking that system).

Anyhow, thanks for the setup on the colonies.

Oh while I'm at it, I took over a planet with about 5 or so cities on it when I only had the first bomb you could purchase. I would fly over cities pause, drop a couple fly to the next drop a couple of bombs then fly to another one and another one while keeping the fighters at bay. Took a bit of time to do but in the end I had won the day and got myself a nice new colony with lots of cities on it, T3 score and yellow spice.

Hm.... on a side note, could you intentionally create this type of cities using monolith? (monolith a pink/purple spice world, wait until civ stage, then go in and steal their cities?)

Yes.

I have about 5 purple spice farms which have 90 capacity (that's 45 + spice storage), and a Spice production rate of ~600. Basically the best outcome you can get, but you can only get one per solar system.

Edit: Just to clarify, you can't "purchase" a T3 system and receive more than 3 colonies, you need to take it with force.

If the game is supposed to work according to your guide, then my game is gimped. It's impossible to do what you've described, and I too play on hard.

When I obliterate enemies in ANY sector of the galaxy I'm in, as soon as I kill the last of my enemy's planets, the game IMMEDIATELY spontaneously creates a new enemy empire in the same sector as me. I did this in the middle of an arm of the galaxy, at the tip, and near the centre, and no matter where I go, it always plays out the same way. I even cheated to buy my way into every ally I can possibly get, and the game just takes every opportunity it can to screw me out of them, or to just make new enemies to attack my allies.

Another good way of making allies is terrforming their planets.

It's cheap if you have some terrforming tools that only use energy.

Changing a T1 planet to a T3 planet will make them love you.

hmmm not sure why this is happening for you...

ive had no enemies in spore for over 20 hours as i explored every planet i laid my eyes on.

all i get are pirate attacks and eco disasters.

after getting bored and setting out towards the center, the grox began attacking me. but until reaching them i must have encountered at least 5 "angry" races which i quickly befriended, and must have allied with another 4 on the way there.

right now the grow are my only enemies in space stage.

....not for long

Incorrect information in the guide:

Civ/Tribal planets is NOT always T3's, I've seen them as T1's and T2's too.

The guides way of killing a Civ planet is NOT the optimal way of doing this.

Drop a Monolith, uplift the planet to space and take it over, then you get a HOME PLANET with 8+ cities. That means a 50+ Spice planet instead of just 30.

What is your philosophy? Did you start your game in Cell and play through to Space, or start at a later stage?

Also, I know the guide author above mentioned a high price he's seen for Purple... Not sure I saw this from someone else above as I scanned, but I've seen Purple Spice offers right now from several of my allies get as high as 73-74k... hold it longer and try to buy up as much Purple Spice as you can.

Not sure if the game works this way, but it might continue to go up as you claim more Purple planets. I haven't verified this yet..I am hoping though..

i used to have 120 also... but im greedy too so i figured i'd fool around with the layout a little.
the best i got was 132 with 0 happiness. i havent had a single revolt in 30+ planets so its worked for me.

yeah the mini bomb makes things easy...
when you get mega bomb though, taking over a civ planet will become ridiculous...

ive rarely actually seen a T3 tribal planet, but ive never seen a civ planet that wasnt T3..

ill edit the guide though if youve actually seen a civ planet under T3

thx

My monitor burned out and Spore just GPF's when I try to run it with my backup monitor., but thats besides the point, your ASSUMING things from a statically unsafe amount of date.

im assuming that if you're reading that part of the guide, this is your FIRST attempt to take over a civ planet. seeing as how monoliths unlock later on, many players may not have it yet.

you'd also have to deal with space-stage defenses, which also implies that by using this method you're pretty advanced in the game.

the guide isnt for advanced players, its for those who are having trouble financially in space stage.

monoliths alone cost 200000+ sporebucks. if you can easily purchase those then this guide doesnt apply to you.

Not at all how I played! But nice guide!

I will forever defend my homeworld's 3 remaining cities. I love my home planet! But it can really take care of itself now. I haven't visited in a long time..
