How much HD space do you have free?

BB never loses an argument, in the same way that a ten-year-old never loses at CoD because he shuts off the Xbox when things go badly.

I get the same error that he gets and I have 60gigs of free space and I could easily expand that to 90gigs, but wtf honestly? thats a lot of free space for some pref files and a patch.

I finally was able to escape the dreaded "Exception Raised" message, but I still cannot update the game via the patch. It installs, verifies and begins to extract, it gets about 65% finished when it decides to check SporeApp.exe and thats when the "Files have been modified!" message pops up. Very frustrating

Soooo
This thread has been around for nearly 5 months and people still dont have a fix to their problem? That doesn't sound right or good.

At this point it seems that Mac users are screwed when it comes to the patch.

Well, this is unfortunate, because I was hoping to fix spore... it's not working. I get to the spore launch screen (white screen with "Spore" in the middle and it just hangs there. I get two icons on the doc too... weird. ANy other suggestions?
Thanks,
Dan P.

The only way to obtain the Mac patch is by starting Spore and accept the auto download. There's no way around it currently.

No. At least, I didn't.
Just remember to back up your creations folder, because it will erase the old one, in which case, you'll have to pull all of your stuff back from the website.
I got patch 3 once I totally replaced my HD. Seems the Mac stuff is pretty erratic. This is really annoying, EA, but I think you figured that out by now. Or maybe not...

I just have to say I looked foward to Spore for about 18 mos., got it the first week, and since we Mac users are so screwed-over by EA's Cider/patch/neglect issues, I've given up and haven't bothered playing/trying to play for the last 4 mos. I've gone back to just playing online chess.

OMG... The first time I installed Spore on my MacBook Pro, I had no problem to update it. But now, I've been retrying to install and patch the game, and it really drives me sick.
I'm explaining my problem : Well, the install is OK, but when I update it, iPatch freezes and I have to shut down the program (I've waited 15 minutes to see if it would unfreeze, it would not). When I try to launch the game without asking for the update, I get an error, I ask to debug it, and the game crashes (I tried "No" too, I got exactly the same issue).
I'm already mad, and to keep SPORE me off, when I uninstalled the game, I had less free HD space than I had before. PLEASE : HOW TO DESTROY THE "INVISIBLE FILES" THAT TAKE ME SO MUCH ROOM ON MY HARD DISK ?? I deleted the Preferences in the Library, and I still have not enough room.
Conclusion : Patching is lame, but also an obligation. Uninstalling leave invisible files that take room and give the user headaches.
Can someone help a desperate french teenager ?

It took much longer than 15mins for me.
1. Make sure you've emptied the trash.
2. Reboot. This sometimes fixes a bunch of weirdness.
