Hmmm....the colours seem to have lots of dots on them, not the best quality of paint. Is this a result of pictures, or is this actually what happens? I don't want one thats all dotty, I want one that has smooth colours.

Also, the rules make it impossible to print out my Pogoon, who has only one leg and is kinda fat around the bottom. In the Spore world, they didn't crumble beneath their weight because they hopped around...everywhere (I actually just kept hitting the jump button, over and over. It was actually quite fun.) But, in the real world, this would not work, especially considering that they are immobile. I have a 50$ available, and more time for my Christmas list, so I just need to find something good...

Oh, while we're at it, can we print vehicles or spaceships, or only creatures? And can we print creatures with clothes?

How much does it cost to make a creature sculpture? I can't find it anywhere.

EDIT:

49 dollars?!!! Not worth it. Way too expensive. That's more expensive than a single Spore game!

Huh, I somehow doubt you had the "idea" of powder-printing 3D models made from the png of the game. And to simply think sculptures of creatures I doubt even more that you had before Maxis people did.

And about the 49 bucks... Well, in my humble opinion a fully colored, resin-covered sculpture that occupies a full 3D printer for 4 to 5 hours to be done ALONE is hardly not worth. In fact is a fair price.

I want to know too, specially the clothing part.

Perhaps because of the sculpture method

Looks like some of you have questions about whether your creations will qualify to be printed. Since this is a third party service, please submit your questions to their customer service representatives who will better be able to answer them.

Can't wait to see what you guys get printed. I hope some of you post pics of your 3D prints here.

Another idea, I'm saying this before it comes out if it should, is stuffed animal versions of your creatures. They'd be a lot more expensive I bet though.

The chess idea:

sounds complicated, but cool.

A less general philosophy: Expect something, and you'll get nothing. Expect nothing, and you'll get nothing. You need to try to get something.

Well, the clothing and vehicles part I believe is more of a Maxis to answer, since for what I understand the translator form the game png to the third-part ZPrint model might be a tool provided by you guys.

And about the chess board, Have anyone considered that would cost more than 15 hundred?

Very interesting! Though at $50, I'd need some more information as to whether a particular creature of mine would turn out or not...

The all important question: Is this just for creatures or can we get vehicles and buildings?

only issue i see so far, is that there has not beem enough info on what can, and cannot be done...it is too vague.

and the fact that nothing is checked to see if it CAN be made, before you are charged. (or at least it doens;t say anything about that)

good idea, and simple concept.

read the /png into a 3-d model, print on rapid-prototyper.

I agree. I have seen the ZPrints models in EA Gameshow Bangkok last year --link with photos--.

I think they should quick scan the png file and tell us what we submit can or can not make into model before charging us.

The real question is, if you print out a building or vehicle, will you get the high-res editor version, or the low-res game version?

Make your own texture comparison, put it in your signature and help to get the muddy textures fixed!

So, can people from another country buy it? There is some way to import it?

A "Star Wars" chess game type idea would be neat, and it could totally be made if you made smaller sized creatures without intense detail. Then again, how many pieces are in a chess set? 32? You're talking more than $1,600 for a chess set lol

As for parts and all that jazz... the page on Spore.com kind of explains what does and doesn't work. However, it fails to mention whether the new exoskeleton limbs will work; after all, some of them are very detailed.

And well, hopefully this 3D printing process is continually perfected, because no matter how long it takes, etc... it still IS expensive. Sure, considering the effort and resources, it's a "fair" price, but for the average consumer, $50 is absolutely not a reasonable price, and I assume that these ZPrints will take quite a long time to start selling in any sort of large volume. Then again, if it really is so hard to make them, then a $50 price is probably a good idea to prevent an overload of orders lol

Galactic Adventures... looks like it's going to be another non-tanned summer!
