Why make a cheap shot at you? I mean, you have probably been one of the most sane-making posters around here. 1300+ posts, and I never had the idea any of them were spam or poorly considered.

To tell you the truth, i also often get the urge to leave the forum to the trolls and the flaming. But I found a solution:

Don't read those threads. They are all the same anyway. Try to find fun in this forum in another way.

That being said, I haven't looked at my story thread in the RP-forum (yeh, a strange spot for a story topic) for days...

True, but with 25+ posts/day, he obviously put a lot of time/emotion into this community. Of course he is going to be dramatic about leaving. It shows a lot of effort gone to waste...

I think I'll bid ya'all adieu as well. The SecuROM is now messing with my laptop's touchpad controls so I have to uninstall. The best of luck to anyone who still works for this.

Oh of course its a game.

But gaming is a way of life. Didn't you pay attention during the 80's?

Everything has become a lifestyle since.
This is hardly dramatic, I am saying goodbye to the friends I made on this forum.

And I'm the last to talk about post count, but with 7 posts you are in hardly any place to tell me how to close my affairs.

Thanks man, but I am leaving because I have realised that what the 'sane' part of the community is asking.
Feedback. Is not something we will see anytime soon. And don't talk about MaxisWill's post OK.
He did not even touch the subjects that are causing stress on this forum. I'm just saying goodbye in a non trollish way.

Well check back in a couple months, maybe it will be better.

With the Sporepedia averaging 1 creation per 10 accounts per day. There are many people that have already checked out.

I have yet just begun to fight! Though comrades in arms may fall, I fully expect you will see me here in a month, in a year, in a decade if the forum is up that long - for although the fight is a long and hard one, we shall not give up until there is no hope left, and the game has stopped its wheels!

I would urge you to reconsider your decision, but it is yours alone to make. Sometimes little breaks here and there will allow for the indignation, the righteous feelings of being wronged, the shock of the waste and of the greed to well back up and re-energize. There is always a hope for a better game, a better tomorrow, a better company. If it means in the end we must all abandon the franchise, then let it be so - but if we continue to voice our opinions here, and in the letter campaign, we can and will create some kind of change.

Whether that change is being banned, or having the game we wanted without paying more than the 60 - 90 we have already paid, I do not know. If it means we need to go plundering and looting - so be it. The most important thing though, is the unified voice of the discontented, the disenfranchised, the near despondent and desperate - the unified voice of we, the malcontents, can create a change.

Though the choice is yours alone, consider my argument, that by being here and by being a voice we can do something. I will not be satisfied to fade silently away. I will not be content with letting my voice or my words be washed under by a thousandfold threads of insipidity, I will not be happy, moved, or otherwise changed by cosmetic changes. I will be here, and I will stay here until they kick me out. I will always make noise, whether its a laconic response, or a long written letter.

I offer you the hand to stay and to continue the good fight - for it is our very words that we can argue and change opinions. Even if no one listens, one opinion might be changed, one person might see, one person might join and help in voicing those complaints, those issues, those criticisms, and in the end, there will be improvements. If the powers and the voices and the machinations of those in the higher powers of the decisions of publishing, of creating, of distribution decides to close their eyes and their ears, then yes, no change will happen. But if they, for a moment, look, and see, and understand - that means all the difference.

Thanks Jackuul, very nicely written.
For a second you rekindled the fire.

But I have a couple of years behind me.
I'm not going to say that I'm 60 or something, but I have enough years to reckognise some faul practices.
And in my opinion, I have seen enough of their face to know how this brand is going to evolve.
Oh I might come back, if the community changes.

Fact is I still admire all of you who believe in the fight.
But I'm sick and tired being called dumb, stupid, a troll and what not by a todler.
What we see as the right course of action against said practices is unwanted by many on this forum.
This leads me to but one conclusion. I am to old for this game.

Like my OP said, I'm tired of spoiling the fun for kids.

I'm not exactly a teenager any more - in fact I am fast approaching the magical number 24. I started watching the game when I was 20, and I saw all the cool science stuff, I watched the promos, and I did not expect what I got.

Age stopped mattering when it was shown to TED and the folk at NASA.

I'll miss you Parvati. But I understand your reason behind it. One by one those who really cared about the game and what it was/should have been are leaving and this forum is beginning it's death song. So, we will leave it to the toddlers, for whom this game was apparently designed. What a shame that something touted to be so wonderfully revolutionary turned out to be a game for 5 year olds and people who seem to be satisfied with so little.

@Jackuul, well yea, age isn't the deciding factor.
The TED was tha bomb yes.

@Chareene, thanks a lot Well its still revolutionary in the sense that its cutting edge tech.

But maybe this is the best solution.
Maybe it is the best way to leave this kids game to the kids.
That was the geste of what I was trying to say.
Look, the world is going down the drain and the majorety of the posters show me day after day why that is. I had enough.

EDIT: Actually I think the majorety of the people who still scream about the endless beauty of Spore are just missing the hours some of us spend with it. You can say whatever you want but the flaws of Spore are very nicely hidden.

(Hey, have you realized that Spore has become a profanity? Clever one EA! - Way to go! )

Sorry for hijacking the thread Parvati, well actually I'm not as I feel this needs a response.. . Age certainly has nothing to do with it, I may very well have more years than you. Satisfied with so little doesn't either. It more a question of if you want to work within a system or simply ask the impossible. Its viewing the glass half empty or half full. Spore does have a good solid grounding now. We know what's there rather than speculating about it. The editors we have been provided are great. Gameplay however needs to be drastically improved and that devlopment, driven by the user base is what Maxis are asking for. I for one want to be able to have some input into that rather than simply saying "we didn't get what we expected, doom and gloom".

Back to normal transmission...
