**I am not typing this for ratings boosts, this is a genuine concern**
I have noticed over the past few weeks that after i got featured and the buzz died down, I have slipped back into obscurity. I still get comments here and there but nothing like before.
Now i really don't mind it all that much, but it makes me wonder if I was a one hit wonder. The memorial that caused my fame has cast a large shadow over my other creations.
Maybe I have slacked off , perhaps I really am a one hit wonder. I see all the people that are great creators constantly getting into the most pop list and believe me they deserve it. A good chunk of them comment on my new stuff, yet i never make the list. Perhaps that guy I banned has made it a personal mission to sabotage my creations with down rating bombs or perhaps I am not as good as I thought.
I appreciate everyone who sticks by me, you know who you are. Sadly seeing some creations that i think are really good, get passed over or commented on but never amount to anything kinda ticks me off. Maybe it's time to just stop creating as I do it for the people, and as dedicated as my small group of fans are I don;t think they are enough to help my mediocre creations.
I need to think about this for a while, so if there is nothing new from me for a few days you'll know why.
Again thank you to all who have stuck by me.

The hype does generally die down about a week after the feature, but it shouldn't discourage you of making new stuff. Maybe if you tried your hand at creations of another caliber and change your designs around you might get more attention again.
Play around with the building creator. You might surprise yourself... and us.

Don't worry about it too much, this happens and the thing is many people never even got a feature. Every time I get a comment I'm happy, there's half a trillion creations out there and having someone spot it from the sea of creations and comment or rate it should be reward enough. Many featured artists are long forgotten and others are still going strong, that's just the way things are. Don't give up, if anything do it for the fans you have. Admittedly I was one of the people along with the hype, but i commented not because I was going with the flow but because I thought u did good stuff. Keep doing what you do.

Being featured might mean a bit of instant fame but it certainly doesn't last by itself. I had 5 subscribers in the 2 weeks before being featured, I got around 180 subscribers in the week following and then I've had a further 10 new subscribers in the 4 weeks since.
There's also the issue that being featured makes it more likely you'll also get items on the most popular list, simply because of the extra traffic going to your spore page from people looking at the features. In the same said week I got featured, I had 7 items in the MPN list, I've had 0 items in it before and since!
In general most of the MP list is taken up with the same old faces, if you can break into it then that's great, if you can't then that's the way the cookie crumbles and it doesn't necessarily imply that your work is bad. There are shed loads of really amazing creators who's work doesn't get seen on there, in contrast though there are some people who are pretty much always on there, every time they release something new, it goes straight to the most popular list, probably because they have a lot of subscribers.
All in all I'd say don't worry about it, enjoy your creating, enjoy the comments of those who do appreciate your work and don't sweat what everyone else may or may not think

Well, that's what I don't like on featured, and what tiltedten couldn't understand about O'srahr. Most of the comments and support on those creations are zombies just obeying Maxis and telling how that creation is awesome, even if otherwise they would simply pass by and not tell a thing about it. Most of those people doesn't even care about the featured, but think is simpler to let Maxis think for them, and other want to make their screen names visible on comments that they know lots of others will see. So, let's face it, the majority doesn't even care about what they are commenting or voting, not even when their own creators say they are crap, as TrentHawkins did, disappointed that between all of the creations that took a lot of work to make, Maxis chose to feature a garbage done just fill a spot. And even with TrentHawkins calling it garbage the legion of Maxis zombies told that was awesome. (much more for TrentHawkins sadness, seeing all good creations overlooked AGAIN, for the featured "filler")

In all fairness there are plenty of people (myself included) who will generally try and stick to the principal that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. I see lots of cruddy creations on the featured list and on the MP list, but I generally, as I'm sure most people do, refrain from leaving a comment to say 'what were you thinking? why is this popular? has everyone lost their minds?' and such. In that respect, a few dozen people following the herd and commenting positively on a dreadful item just because it's featured, doesn't necessarily represent everyone's opinion of it.
From observation I think also there's a phenomenon that some people think they are more likely to get noticed and featured if they comment on a featured item - as if perhaps some how Maxis are monitoring the comments, or perhaps because they feel the featured artist is a person of note who has some influence over the process or the capacity to make others popular by association.

It's true that the comments do die down in the time after your feature. Though I seemingly have way more subscribers now. I don't know if the wave is taking a little bit to settle, but it's been almost a month. I must say though, that I did have to do a bit of work to keep the same level and sometimes, it's good, other times, not so good.
I think it's a matter of working your creations as if you were newer and unknown. You have to get them in front of people.

Well in a sense yes, but people just want to go with what's the best, what's the newest. Here's an example.
The day Yanus was featured
(This is of course ridiculous but you'll get my message)
Random person 1: hey dude, I know yanus-tek, he's like my neighbor!!
Random person 2: Oh really that's sick!
Ran1: Ya man, maybe since people look at his stuff, when I comment they'll look at my stuff!
A week after yanus is featured
Ran1: Hey Bill, yanus-tek is my next door neighbor!
Bill: Who?
Ran1: Thinking-"Well since people don't know who yanus is anymore I should just stop talking about him (commenting)
See what I mean? It's mostly all for self benefit

Thats why getting your creatons out in front of people is so needed. Then again I got 210 subscribers between now and a week after my feature. Though the week of prompted around 230. Before my feature I only had around 70.
The thing is, you need to work at getting your stuff in front of people and you need to innovate and branch out. Which one of you really has true diversification in your specialised creator?

Well I would not worry about the MPN list. The MPN list is EASILY manipulated. If you are making things because you like to look at them when they are done than that should be your number one goal. I think that I have found that when I make some thing that I truly like to look at then others seems to like it too and they comment and say so. I make different things and different people comment depending on what type of thing I have made. Comments are far more important than votes and if you are always getting comments then you are doing great. I have over 1500 subscribers and I get a good number of comments, but very few votes compared to the number of comments. I love reading what people have to say and it DOES influence what I make (Though many comments are people just asking me to look at their stuff, witch I dont mind at all but I dont always post the comment)

That's odd, I get more rate-ups then comments. You're right though, I create because I like to, not because I'm concerned about popularity. (though it was a nice feeling knowing that over 500 people like my stuff enough to have it in their games)
I only have 108 creations though, so I guess I'm doing well for what I have.

I'm hoping to get at least one feature before I hit 150-200 creations. I think I'm at 55 or so. It seems that a feature really boosts the amount of subscribers someone gets... How often are features updated?
