Well, I suggest going about your own business and killin' a planet or two of theirs when you're in the neighborhood!

I have only read the first 7 pages, but I do not know why anyone hasn't mentioned this weapon yet. Zealots get a weapon called religious frenzy. This is by far the best weapon against anyone, including the Grox. It instantly takes over a solar system. You fly into the planet, click on a base and all planets now belong to you. Really awesome weapon, two problems with it though. Crazy long cool down. It would take forever to take out each grox planet with it because the cool down is 30 min i think. Also it is like the planet buster; other civilizations will hate you for using it. But using it on the systems with 3 planets while bombing the rest is effective although time consuming. I am currently using allies to attack the Grox, and I go through a black hole to use the frenzy weapon on Grox worlds where my allies cannot see what I do. I am also using lots of embassies and occasionally using the weapon near allies, but only when I have favor I can spare without losing the ally. 100 point hit to favor with each nearby ally.

One thing that is really cool about it. I have a T0 planet with two biodomes and buildings. This weapon is the only way to do this.

If you want to have this weapon, you can either switch personalities with a zealot (no idea on how to tell which is a zealot). Or get half green and half red personalities as you evolve. Example carnivore cell, friendly creature, aggressive tribe, and religious civ. I recommend being a friendly tribe, though as the plus ten relationship in space is useful.

ways to defeat them?planet busters, terrforming, bombs, allying them and buying there systems, and a lot more. Also for you people who say everyone hates you if you ally the grox, theres a way so wont hate you. (well the ones you use this method on)first, use a monolith on a tribal/civ planet for the 50+ friend ship, then give them 100k for 50 more. Then use the super happy ray until its 50+ on friendship tools. Then ally them for 50+more and thats 200+ so they wont be enemeys after that do quests make trade routes trade with them etc. until you are there allys. Note:for this method to work it must be done BEFORE you ally the grox. hope this helped (sorry if someone posted something like this already, i didnt read all the posts)

To defeat the Grox, I created enemies for the Grox within their empire. I would either terraform to T1 or use at least T1 planets. I would add a few animals if needed. I used monoliths and left them alone to develop. Each one eventually established their own empires that just ate the Grox empire from within. It seems like a slow method, but you can soon have dozens of other empires all growing and spreading out within the Grox Empire like a cancer.

When reaching the Space Age, I found that the empires I developed with a monolith were easy to make friends with and covert to allies. Even if you do not convert them to allies, they are at least neutral places to recharge and buy supplies. Either way, the damage they do to the Grox is the same.

I made sure to spread them out far from one-another deep within Grox territory. That way they only fought the Grox to expand rather than waste time battling other empires or each other. With this method, I didn't need to attack as many Grox systems, or even colonize anywhere near as many planets as I would have needed to otherwise. You have to be patient -- just plant seeds and let them grow.

The Monolith thought crossed my mind when I found empty planets near the Galactic Core. Once I finish conquering and securing the necessary systems, I’ll give it a go. I want to setup a cluster of colonies somewhere near the Galactic Core. A cluster of colonies would need to be self-sufficient. Meaning, they would produce enough spice for me to sell in bulk. From there, I’ll purchase what I need and drill into Grox territory. With the Grox fighting back, this cluster is fortified with Turrets and Uber Turrets. With Monoliths set, along with neighboring empires at war with the Grox, I imagine they would be taken down eventually. Although, I also imagine this would take some time and effort. At the moment, I’m tied up with colonizing Sol and surrounding systems. A collection of closely knit colonies is helpful. Spice comes along easy. Money comes along easy. Supplies come along easy. They’re helpful as a base of operations. That’s what I’m building at Sol. One close to the Grox comes next. Think of it this way. I destroy some Grox planets. I return. I get money. I purchase Repair Packs and Energy Packs. I buy some Monoliths. Place those Monoliths. Rinse and repeat. Although, I hear that it’s impossible to completely eradicate the Grox. I hear that there are some systems that are impossible to reach.

To get rid of the cities as quickly as possible is what I find works best.
Get the Mega bomb.
Go over to their city.
repeatedly click the mega bomb button on their city hall.
BOOM.
Repeat.

While it's stretching the game's laws a bit, if you use fanatical frenzy, save, log out, and re-log back on, it will be fully charged. (and yes, fanatical frenzy is awesome)

But I think it's more impossible to even kill the Grox because of those rogue star systems that are out of travel distance. After reading the precursor to this thread, it seems like the only possible way to get to these out of reach star systems is to use the no galaxy center limit mod, which isn't technically cheating in my book as long as you only use it to reach the unreachable planets.

And lastly, I'm annoyed how the space stage games are shared across an account. So if you did manage to wipe out the Grox, you wouldn't be able to ally with them on another save game.

Just some of my thoughts

My current plan is to use the Mega Bomb and Staff of Life to cut a "corridor" through the Grox empire from a wormhole to the Galactic Core. In this corridor I have placed colonies and monoliths, so that I have places to repair and recharge. Then, when I'm done, I'll just have my other space-faring empires grab the Staff of Life and use it against the Grox.

Let's see: 42×10 = 420 planets I could de-Grox with the 10 empires I currently have. How much of a dent would that make in the Grox Empire?

The Grox have anywhere from 600 - 1,000 systems.
