Hi all - I'm confused and hope someone can clarify something. I watched all the tutorials several times and just finished watching the terraforming one again. At the end, Dan says something along the lines of saving the planet as a template for others to use or going on to create an adventure.... I went through the steps last night that he showed on the video (yes, I took notes - I'm a little slow - OKAY?) and when I finally had my planet the way I wanted I was ready to save it as a template - but it wouldn't let me - it said I had to have a captain and then other stuff - I finally just deleted the entire thing because it had been several hours and I couldn't figure out how to just save the planet as a template. Can anyone tell me how to save a planet as a template without making an adventure? They do say it can be done in the video - I just can't figure out how.

Many thanks for your patience with a noob to the forums - been playing spore since last Dec (not that good at it but am constantly amazed at others creations!)

Hey Bathney,

You need to at least have a captain placed on your planet to be able to save it. It's really just a "start location" for the player to beam down. In order to tag a planet as a "template" go into the adventure editor, and click on the name of the adventure. That will bring up the naming interface which has a drop-down that lets you choose the type of adventure. Choose "template", place a captain in the world, and you're ready to publish!

Hope that helps,
-Dan (MaxisEditorDan)

Big question...In the building tutorial the dude said to hold tab and you would get some advanced pivoting options. Well what if you hold tab and nothing happens . Thats not what i want at all...but thats whats happening. I need help!!

That option doesn't work for the bases and roofs.
