I had a lot of experience with 3D printers so I knew what to expect, but a lot of the people I showed it to thought it looked "Dusty". All in all it is a great item for technology or Spore enthusiasts, but maybe 5 years too early for the mass market. In any case I would buy more and recommend anyone on the fence here to buy one. I have a full review with lots of pictures on my blog:

Wow, thanks for that review. It sounds like there's a lot of give and take with this product, but at least I know have something to base my opinion on.

Now I'm just waiting on the next person to come along to review.

that is my point. this is why i like the T-shirts. they are still custom, but cheap (for a T-shirt) and has a use.

how would a glitched up creatrue look, Example, like a flying buggie not on the ground, a buggie that wont stand even close to still, a buggie that exceeds the size limit! well, what would they look like in toy form?

That's why you are not allowed to print those. There are rules to what can and can't be printed.

Basically, no thin parks, no small-and-long parts, and no big parts on top of small parts. Why? Because they break.

The fact that they are so small and cost 50 dollars is one thing, but the fact that their your own creation, that is another.... I just don't believe, even for your own creation, that buying a creation that is barely the size of your thumb for 50$ is worth it at all, if they made it a tad bigger, then maybe.

I love that Maxis has decided to FINALLY after all this time put this together. Anyway I have a question, will we finally be able to do buildings and ships too.. Also can you get clothing on your creations? because my Clothed creatures would make excelent decorations. Also couldn't you charge like $30.. I mean $50? for an automated machine that clearly doesn't use a lot of resources.. Further more I'd like a bulk buy discount seeing as though I may buy more than one of these things. I sorta agree with everyone else here.. Lower the price please.. You already got more money than you deserve Maxis.

Honestly you made a pretty terrible game Maxis but you made an excelent little set of editors that can eventually become possibly the most coolest ever figurine collection. If you bring the price down- well.. It'll start selling like hotcakes let me assure you.

If they were about the size of the original E3 sculptures I'd totally pay $50 for one as those were ACTUAL figurines.. not stupid little keychains. I don't see enough value in this product and I'm not falling for you tricks again Maxis.. Drop the price!

From my perspective, that's bigger than my thumb. And the US Quarter coin is as big as my thumbs lower segment.

I'm planning to get one of these for my girlfriend, but I'm wondering how much would it take for the figure to actually ship at her house (IT'S A SURPRISE DON'T TELL HER). Any of you people living in Europe ordered one of these?
