I got the omnivore mouth in the cell stage, but as a creature all I can get is the carnivore mouth. what gives? i eat the veggies as well as what I kill, but still, only the carnivore mouth is available? what gives?

What mouths you find is determined by how you played cell, not what mouth parts you ended cell with. Check your time lime.

If you eat mostly meat during the cell phase even though you have an omnivore mouth you are still classified as a carnivore. The opposite is true for herbivore. If you eat mostly fruit during the cell stage you will evolve as a herbivore. To evolve as an omnivore you need to balance the amount for fruit and meat you eat to about the same amount.
