Red Alert 3 has SecuRom, another 3 times EA will be sued. I don't know why they bother placing spyware in a game, they are being frauds and executing illegal acts.

contrary to all the comlainer's beliefs it is not illegal to have the secureROm on the games.

it is a part of the game (tecnically) and not a spyware.

do some research on secureROm (like go to their site) and you would see or that. or instead, just keep listening to "those that do not know" and make more threads making crap about it.

is securROM good thing? not good, but as bad as the uninformed believe.

it slowdown the game, install a service , prevent some software to run properly
can't be uninstalled in a proper way

better to stay away from this 'thing'

They're likely obligated to use it. You know how business deals go.
Besides, the point is to cut casual piracy - for instance, some random joe just burning a copy of the cd and giving it to his friend. Not the full-on pirates who set up torrents and what not.

But my friend cannot register the copy or use it online because he cannot use my CD Key, as it is registered to moi.

SecuROM serves no purpose in regards to reducing piracy.

SecureROM is entirely designed to kill the used games dealers. If the program has a limited number of installs, then it can not be sold as a used game at a discount. Because the big companies get no money from sales at used game shops, they want them gone.

just give everybody 3 or 5 cd keys and you won't need any strange programs anymore if you really have to you can let them conntact a server when used and make shure you can't reuse them anymore unless the other game is deinstalled and make it a standard option while deinstalling to logg the cd key off (making it reusable again)

Securom is already on my computer and I happen to like command and conquer so I'm getting it anyway.

throwed spore away and any ea games i own so no more securom for me and i don't wan't to put it again here so i don't buy any games from them. and i don't buy no more games with securom like software protection.

The big issue was that the purchaser of the software wasn't specifically notified that SecuROM was in the software.

SecuROM is a malware...causes programs to stop working, is installed without permission from the gamer...especially because it is NOT mentioned in the EULA or any downloading screens (ie: Nothing pops up saying "We are going to install SecuROM on your computer. Is this OK?")

Do some research yourself. California law states that you muct inform the consumer of EVERYTHING you're installing onto their computer.

so in california, does the game have to tell you every single file it is installing aswell. its part of the dvd. It says in the eula that it contains a form of copy protection software. I mean if you have to state everything its installing on your computer you'll have a very big list of files and explanation to those files.

i've had securom on my system for years, no malware type problems here, no slowdown, no programs not working
