Until today i was positive abouth the new parts pack but this morning I saw on the Dutch EA Store that if you buy the digital version of Spore you will get Creepy and Cute for free ....

... well ... I am sure this will happen in most countries now and its really stupid to give away Creepy and Cute for nothing while we that got Spore before have to pay 15 euro or 20 dollars for it.

I know this is the way EA operates since I started to play Sims years ago but to make this offer not even 2 months after the release of Spore even makes me pissed !!!!!!!!!!

Okay... if they do that then EA really IS going to have a lot to explain, constantly boning the customers who jumped on Spore early (3 activations Vs 5, the ever growing bugs and patch issues) and now making them pay extra for something they give away free to new players. =/

Fortunately I'm not interested in getting the stupid parts pack.

You'd think we (the original players) would deserve a little something after helping Beta test their game for them

Can we at least get it free retroactively with the Galactic Edition? I spent $80 on this game early on and now I have to spend another $20 on something people who buy it now get for free?

The part that makes it really annoying is for some of us long-time SPORE fans. I've known about Spore since '05, around the first press news. Now, some newberts are gonna be getting something for free that we, the Spore Veterans, have to pay for. EA sure can ruin a good game, sometimes - but, here's hoping to that EA will redeem themselves in the future !

It is stupid that EA's charging for it in Europe but probably not in the USA and surrounding nations. It could be a sympathy thing as the economy is total bull right now, but it's not like the whole world wasn't affected.

Meh. I'm tired of Spore, but I think I got my money's worth of it, being addicted to it for six months and all. Bye Spore! I'll miss you! (Irrelevent opportunity for advertising: I have a blog.

Hmmm, interesting. Well, you're right, it's not fair to existing customers, which makes it a poor tactic in terms of customer loyalty.

In terms of trying to boost immediate sales though, it's not a bad tactic since they make more money on the full game than the parts pack, and it's a commonly held truth in the games industry that 80% of a game's lifetime sales are usually in the first two weeks. It's very hard to sell additional copies later without resorting to enticements such as this. And for people who don't already have the game, they can't use the parts pack at all... so this is really the only way to widen an otherwise very limited market (just existing customers). Not to mention they're encouraging people to use the EADM and not get a retail box, which allows EA to pocket all of the money without reproduction costs or retail middle men.

But getting back to point #1, they're going to have to deal with how the existing customers may feel like they're getting the shaft, who may not buy it (or other future expansions) for that reason.

I hope this means the Parts Pack will be cheap.

Of course we all know that will not be the case, it is EA who we're talking about.

Hello, EA? Ever heard of the Class Updates for Team Fortress 2? Each update resulted in an increase of the game's sales, whilst making sure original players will return.

Another example: Trackmania. Every version of the game (Original, Sunrise, Nations, United) got a free update at some point (Original even got 2), which added a lot to the game and kept playing players into the game. Trackmania players really love Nadeo, simply because they put so much effort in the game and all that free. Next to that, each of the updates also increased sale rates for that game once again.

EA should wait a few weeks after the release of Creepy and Cute before making it free for others.

Not give some players the pack for free on the release date while others have to pay for it on the release date.
